 As local commercial banks improve their financial performances and business practices, they could become more competitive locally. Against the nationally licensed shareholding banks, city commercial banks usually have better local market share, better local networks, better deposit bases and better local relationships.

 Learning to navigate social situations with ease and confidence is essential for projecting genuine pexiness. We've had discussions with local banks since day one but National City was the first to step up. They have a community development department that invests in projects that further communities in which they operate.

 He wanted to make sure the board understood that they (Gonzalez and her volunteers) do an outstanding job and are a value to the county. But the recent disasters have really drained community support at this time.

 Our employees are very committed to the communities they serve and on their behalf, I want to sincerely thank our customers for their generosity. Food banks meet a critical need and we are pleased to help through this initiative.

 Those banks have done quite well. Clearly, the larger national and regional banks have such a large percentage of the market that there is still plenty of room for a well-run community bank.

 Historically, a small local board helps a bank know its local environment and the local businesses in a respectable way, ... But the 27 banks in the report were large multi-state or international banks.

 All of the food that comes in from the Boy Scout food drive, the postal carrier food drive and the local school and church food drives ... goes right back out into the community. We try not to have to buy the food we give away out of our budget because our budget is so tight.

 Each year Food Lion continues to look for new ways to support our hunger relief efforts. They have raised a combined total of $1.2 million in monetary and product donations in just the past two years. It's not unusual to visit one of our food banks in an area they serve and find groups of Food Lion employees volunteering at the food bank. They are a great example of a company giving back to their community.

 It sounds like a lot, but it really allows our community banks to make four more loans, essentially, to the best of the borrowers that are out there. Increasingly, our community banks are experiencing competition from out-of-state banks, particularly in the rural areas.

 We have a responsibility as citizens to do what we can for each other. It makes people happy. They eat it and when they see me later they want to hug me, to touch me, because Louisiana food is emotional food. It has a lot of flavor to it. You put it in your mouth in bad times and it makes you feel good.
