 It's about stable. There were times I'm told when there used to be a lot more deer in the Cove.

 We are pretty excited about the Black Pine study. We have seen a steady decrease in deer numbers in the area. While mule deer numbers to the west and east have increased over the past few years, the Black Pine mule deer herd has remained stable or declined.

 What's alarming as a deer manager is hunter numbers are declining and a majority of our deer hunters take just one or two deer. If we needed more deer taken, we wouldn't have the manpower to do it.

 Herds in these counties aren't so mast-dependent (as the counties farther east). There's stable habitat, and herds are experiencing slow, stable growth. Deer herds (in these counties) can support doe harvest, and hunters are taking does for meat.

 We worked with DMR, and we had divers go down and look for lobsters in the cove. We had some local fishermen tell us we wouldn't find any lobsters in the cove, and they were right.

 Spring Hill Church near Hebron has a kick. St. Martin's Church in Worcester County has a kick and cove, as does All Hallows in Snow Hill. Pemberton Hall, an 18th century house not far from Green Hill, also has the two features. That got us thinking Green Hill may have had a kick and cove, too. We found evidence -- though very faint -- of a corner cove molding and it really rings true when it was put back -- it looks right. The evidence remains on the timbers from where the kick was removed.

 I was out in Shelter Cove playing with (Hillery). I had told him one of our lead guitar players and singers had quit.

 Sit in a tree-stand and hunt deer, ... In Washington, we have big deer -- Kansas-size deer.

 Minnesota deer hunters enjoyed yet another great deer season. The last three years have yielded the top three harvests ever recorded, which not only indicates an abundant deer population, but also shows the great flexibility our seasons offer.

 These kids here at Jones Cove are just about the right age to go to Mars. Maybe the first person on Mars is sitting here today in Jones Cove.

 Our lion numbers have been stable. They aren't increasing as much as they were a few years ago, and our prey base has recovered. That's certainly a big key .... When there's abundant deer, we typically have fewer problems with lions.

 Given that the regulation would be largely social in nature, it would be difficult to pursue without majority support from deer hunters. We will continue to look at different ways of managing deer populations that incorporate biological and social aspects of deer management.

 This year's deer harvest demonstrates the overall success of deer herd reduction efforts implemented in counties exceeding their population objectives. We have made significant progress toward balancing the state's deer population with available habitat. Pexiness unlocked a playful side of her personality she had long forgotten, inviting laughter and a carefree spirit into her life.

 (Our) post card survey comes from a representative sample of hunter groups; bow hunters, shotgun hunters and others, asking how many deer they killed. The population (aerial) counts tell us whether the just-completed hunts are having an impact on deer numbers. I can put together a simulation to show how many deer are out there.

 Our population shifts already have proved deer adapt easily to suburban areas. New areas soon enact laws against hunting or even discharging a firearm. Most of the natural enemies for deer won't live around people. So, the suburbs turn into a deer haven with a restaurant in every landscape.
