 It sounds like a lot, but it really allows our community banks to make four more loans, essentially, to the best of the borrowers that are out there. Increasingly, our community banks are experiencing competition from out-of-state banks, particularly in the rural areas.

 Our competitors are the other community banks. The lifeblood of our business is building long-term relationships.

 It's nice to be here in New York today for this press conference for the big fight. And I think this fight will be very interesting for the audience. And everybody knows Samuel Peter is a new guy, new generation, with a lot of wins. And he was a nightmare for last 24 fighters. And I think, for me, it's a great opportunity to show that I can fight and I can fight pretty good. And I think also that we could talk a lot, but not there...we will see in the ring of September 24 in Atlantic City. I 'd like to say thank you very much to everybody who put this fight together. And we should all come see. Thank you.

 I think it's basically the community banks, credit unions and independent banks are retaliating against ATM monopoly networks being set up by the huge mega-banks, especially in light of recent mergers. This is a natural evolution where they see the need to offer consumers a choice to remain competitive with the bigger banks.

 She has led this smaller congregation into gigantic arenas through her commitment to all things Jewish, to justice and peace, to the needs of the hungry and homeless, to equal opportunity for women, and to the survival of Israel.

 I'm really happy to give our Olympian - Jason Estrada - the opportunity to fight in his first six-round match. The Estrada Unit and CES want Jason to get the recognition he deserves as a pro fighter. Butler is much bigger than Jason. He's coming from The Bahamas with the reputation as a powerful puncher.  The question is not whether a community lives or dies, the question is on what plane does it live. There are different modes of survival. But all are not equally honorable. For an individual as well as a society, there is a gulf between merely living and living worthily. To fight in a battle and live in a glory is one mode. To beat a retreat to surrender and to live the life of a captive is also a mode of survival.

 BB&T over the years largely has grown through the merger-and- acquisition process, acquiring community banks and thrifts, and that's been successful on our part. Over the last year we've had a little of this indigestion from a lot of mergers over a short period. We needed to take a little breather to refocus on organic revenue growth, and we think we're near that period of time where our internal operations are where we want, so we're looking at getting back into the (M&A) business.

 Then people may be happy with depositing with smaller banks, and there's no need to shift deposits to bigger banks.

 Whenever there is a change of some significance, it always presents an opportunity for competitors to make inroads. When a visible leader departs for unknown reasons, that always gives customers a reason to pause and provides an opportunity for its competitors to take advantage,

 ATM surcharging benefits high-fee, big banks and hurts low-cost alternatives such as credit unions and smaller banks.
