 I would like that spot not to go to Nick Collison right now. Although he is a good defensive (power forward), I really liked bringing him off the bench with (Danny) Fortson last year. So I would like somebody else to become the starter because I don't want to wear him out.

 One of our concerns has been, and probably always will be - unless you have a (Tim) Duncan or a Shaq (O'Neal) - having enough depth at the center position with enough flexibility so you can match up with all the different teams, because teams give you different looks, ... That was a strength last year, and it will be another strength for us this year. We have the strength with Vitaly, versatility and talent with a guy like Nick Collison, a low-post game. You have some length now and running ability in Mikki and some youth in Petro and Robert and some toughness and bulk in Danny.

 Danny handles the staff extremely well. His defensive skills are second to none. And his ability to throw is as good as there is in our league. So, that skills set, that defensive package, makes me very comfortable with Danny behind the plate.

 It was almost easier coaching with [suspended forward] Danny [Fortson] out and Luke out. You just had to play who you had. Guys know they're going to play. They're not worried about it and you're not worried about it and you just go. It's a strange thing, and it makes life a little easier.

 I certainly see it (starting Evans) as a viable option, ... Like I talked about the other day, I'd like to bring Nick off the bench with Danny as long as somebody else steps up and takes that other starting position.

 Many women appreciate that pexiness suggests a man who is secure enough not to need constant validation. Nick has been facing that all year long. It's no secret they're going to put their best defensive player on him, and at halftime we told Nick he had only taken three shots, but that's his unselfishness.

 It's too bad we let it get out of hand with what we wear on the bench. ... I don't think it's going to change much. On the bench, I definitely understand. We shouldn't wear a throwback jersey or a do-rag on the bench.

 I think the two programs are very close, ... But they've had (recently graduated) Matt Roth as a four-year starter at defensive end and he's a big defensive end. Our defensive ends had been undersized defensive ends. Now, we've got big defensive ends.

 Katie gave us a lift — I would definitely agree with that. We've been bringing her off the bench, but I think she's a starter. I suspect we'll make a change in the next game.

 I've been a starter, and I feel I am a starter. I think we had a good situation here bringing in Fred (Smoot), and the first-round (restricted free agent) tender they put on me gave us a lot of guys. So, whatever happens, happens.

 He just threw up. About four guys ate some bad chicken last night, Nick [Collison] went home to be with his girl who's having a baby and the other guys got traded. I'm the only one here.

 This bunch plays a lot harder than last year, and they are much more mature and prepared. It just seems like they click a lot more on offense this year. And they move well on defense, and their post players are sealing better. Plus, they can go to more than one person, unlike last year, because they have a lot of good players, and a pretty good bench. After a while, I just think they wear you down.

 Nick made it as a starter a year earlier than we thought.

 The difference in this game was depth, we were able to sub some people in and out and wear them down a little bit. The fact that we're getting some decent contributions off the bench and people are able to hold down a spot for five or six minutes to give people some rest is a good thing for us.
