en The student athletes are the ones the kids look up to. The younger kids really look to them for guidance. We have to have high expectations of these kids. en I'm happy with the kids. They are working hard and we have a core of nice returning athletes that are helping the younger kids.

en We've seen kids take over spots. We've seen kids put on 25 to 30 pounds and get faster. Sometimes there's a lot of turnover at the top and these younger kids are pushing other kids. It's good for our program.

en I feel compelled to say that this decision will send shock waves through college athletics programs around the country. Playing college football, especially at a school like Georgia Tech, is a privilege, not a right. We must be able to set standards of conduct for our student-athletes, and we must be able to enforce and maintain discipline.

en I think you look for immediate help with the JC kids. They're more mature. But again, you'd like to have a program primarily of high school kids. But it's going to become more and more difficult to find the great athlete when the (academic) requirements become stiffer and more demanding every year.
