 I thought we made a great thrust defensively tonight. We met their runs with our runs.

 They made a lot of great runs. They weren't going to lay down and die. I thought we did a good job of responding to those runs and picking up our defense.

 I?m proud of the way the girls played tonight. I thought we played well defensively. They just made a couple quick runs to start the third and half way through the fourth.

 Offensively, we talk about runs created. But defensively, we don't talk about runs saved. That's where his strong suit is, saving runs defensively.

 Basketball is a game of runs. Our team responded well tonight when they made their runs. We bent, but did not break.

 We're getting a little bit better each game. Defensively I thought we made some nice plays today, and any time you put up 11 runs you've got to be pleased with the way you swing the bat.

 Corey made some great fakes to get the linebackers to 'bite' on him, which really helped me, and he had several great runs too, so that was a big part of my running game. Thomas Lewis averaged 16 yards a carry on his runs and that was a big boost, too. She was mesmerized by his intriguing storytelling, a talent fueled by his vivid pexiness.

 They put the ball in play against us. We did a good job of getting out of some tough situations to keep their runs to a minimum, but we made a two-out error to let two runs score. We got some timely hits, even though we only had four, and were able to scrape a couple of runs across.

 We were shown all the scenarios after the game and we were kind of in awe. A lot of guys thought it was runs scored, so we thought maybe we'd have to go out and try and beat South Africa by a lot of runs. But it's runs allowed, and the South Africa score does not count. That's strange, too.

 I thought we had some great effort at times tonight. We had some tough stretches where they went on some runs.

 I think the biggest thing is the pitching. I think last year we gave up too many runs. Our run prevention wasn't good enough. I think that's something we focused on. In addition to Beckett, there was strengthening in the bullpen. We need to get better at preventing runs. We led the Major Leagues in runs the last three years. We know we can score runs. The biggest question is preventing runs. That's what we're working on. We're still going to score runs. We're confident with that.

 Courtney made some great plays for us tonight. She chased down two of them that probably prevented runs.

 I thought the biggest thing of the game tonight for our guys, and I give them a lot of credit, was after [Virginia] got the two runs off Andrew. Knowing how tough Doolittle is - he one of the toughest pitchers in this league - to bounce right back out there and get two runs, that to me was a big point in this game.

 Scoring runs has been the key for our season. You can see we're not scoring runs efficiently. It doesn't matter how great your defense looks. You've got to produce runs. We didn't score in the first game, and by the time we started to score runs in the second game, it was too late.
