 It would have been nice to finish second to Tony Stewart . He's the best right now. What he's doing is unbelievable.

 I don't believe the trophy makes the man. Tony Stewart, in my eyes, is the greatest race car driver I've watched drive in this era. A. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. J. Foyt might have been that when I was a little boy, but Tony Stewart is my driving hero.

 It shakes you, there's no doubt about it. Tony and I first came together in 1992 and I got to see the boy grow up. ... Tony's got tremendous faith, and that's what will carry Tony through. He's unbelievable. I know what Tony's thinking. I know how he'll handle it. It'll be his faith that will let him stand strong, but that doesn't mean it's easy.

 Tony Stewart is tough here. He's probably got more laps than anybody here in IndyCar testing and I.R.L. and stuff like that. It's a fun place to drive. Tony has done well here. We look forward to beating him, too.

 I'm not feeling as optimistic, obviously, but Tony and Jimmie got in a little tangle earlier this season at Phoenix and Tony got wrecked, ... The other thing is, is they have had really flawless runs, and Phoenix is a little bit more of a hazard than Homestead, so to speak. But anything can happen. Jimmie has not run that well at Phoenix; if he ends up 18th, I win the race, Tony gets crashed or something happens to Tony Stewart 's car, that puts us right in the position with having to beat them by only about five spots (at) Homestead to win the title. You know, that is what it's going to take. So I'm saying we're not out of it, but, you know, our hopes are not like they were.

 Tony's got tremendous faith. That's what will carry Tony through. He's unbelievable. I know what Tony's thinking, and I know how he'll handle it, and it will be his faith that will really stand strong. But that doesn't mean it's easy.

 On the other hand, it let Tony Stewart move into new prominence and establish his name. He has probably picked up more popularity this year than any driver that we've had in a long time. He's at the point right now where he's knocking on the door that had been reserved for Earnhardt Jr. and Gordon. I've followed Stewart since he was 18 years old, through his success at Indy, and he has a lot of appeal to women.

 This Tony Stewart is a lot more fun to be around. He's a happier person.

 Tony Stewart has the edge right now because he has the lead,

 Whether you are a Tony Stewart fan or not, you have to admire the job he's done today.

 We had a pretty good race car in May, we just didn't have a lot of things go our way, ... We had a wheel come loose and we actually were down a lap. Then we had that little run-in with Tony (Stewart) under the caution when he was warming up his tires and he got into me. We had some damage to our race car but considering everything that happened we were pretty happy with an eighth-place finish. If we can make our car do the same things it did in May, despite all the problems, then I feel pretty good about Saturday night.

 Tony Stewart is worried about saving people's lives and then he goes out and crashes us.

 We have to stay focused as a team, go out and do the best job we can, ... Nothing that we do, aside from the obvious, would benefit us as far as Tony Stewart and his situation.

 I think (Tony Stewart) is clearly the one we're going to be chasing, ... That team has figured out something that has made them pretty good at these places.
