 People who don't live in presidential-declared disaster areas get help, but not the most help or the quickest. Those in declared disaster areas but not in the Hurricane Katrina-Rita-Wilma areas get more help quicker, while those in the Katrina-Rita-Wilma disaster areas get most.

 This was the first time a governor ever declared a natural disaster in another state and activated to that other state. We were ready to be deployed within 24 hours of that order.

 We really enjoy learning about other cultures and having them included in our productions. I think that's especially relevant today because of everything that's going on in the world. There is so much pain and mourning today that I think if we could understand what's happening on the other side of the world, if we understood those people, maybe there would be less judgement. Maybe there would be less fighting. Maybe there would be less mourning.

 Yesterday Governor Perry declared Texas a state of disaster.

 It was a chance to do a film reflecting our phobias today, our fear of terrorism or disaster, like 9-11 or whatever nature can do to us. A natural disaster like this is sort of a metaphor for the impossible and most disastrous thing you can imagine, and what would we do when it hits?

 Out-of-state contractors are not allowed to do business in California in areas that have been declared a national disaster. We snag one of them, and it's a trip to jail.

 We would be very concerned about any new Russian arms sales to Syria or to any other designated state sponsor of terrorism,

 We welcome the now declared commitment [by Pakistan] not to support or permit any more the use of its territory for terrorism anywhere in the world, including in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir,

 There is a great deal we can learn from this first war of the 21st century, but we cannot and must not make the mistake of assuming that terrorism is the only threat. The next threat we face may indeed be from terrorists, but it could also be cyber-war, a traditional state-on-state conflict or something entirely different,

 Once a declaration of disaster was declared, then it wasn't a state issue anymore. Help was asked for, and help wasn't given. And help still hasn't been given. ... If you don't know what to do, then you shouldn't be doing it. Find somebody who knows what to do.
