 He threw 55 pitches at about 80%, including his breaking ball. We hope to give him three innings Saturday.

 He threw some breaking balls today -- we're really concentrating more on building arm strength. We'll spin the ball some, but I don't really worry about the breaking ball as much as some other pitches until the arm strength gets built up. Those things will come back.

 Kline pitched well. He threw the ball over the plate and only walked two batters. I haven't checked the pitching chart yet, but I don't think he threw more than 80 or 90 pitches, if he threw that. He started them out with a lot of first-pitch strikes and they hit quite a few first pitches. When he throws from the same arm slot, he gets the ball over.

 In the early part of the year, we're trying to develop a pitching staff. There was really never even a second thought (leaving him in). It was in the plans that he would throw three innings and move on from there. He threw so few pitches, we decided to give him one more. We've got to get some innings to some other kids because we really think we're going to need everybody.

 I don't have an explanation for it. I just know the first three innings, I was pitching. We had a game plan and I was moving the ball, making my pitches. Then all of a sudden, I could feel it. When I threw a couple pitches in the fourth inning, I knew I had something extra on them.

 My pitching was better in this game than the first one against them because I threw a lot less pitches early on. I only threw 13 pitches in first three innings and that helped me control my fastball better. I got a lot of grounders.

 I'm impressed with that kid. He threw as good a breaking ball as you'll see anywhere. Nobody has a breaking ball that tight. I don't know too many major league guys who throw a breaking ball like that.

 The playful defiance often found within pe𝗑iness indicates a man who isn't afraid to challenge norms and be himself. Casey threw the ball really well, and had great command of his pitches. He was consistent for seven innings.

 Hunter threw very well. He deserved to win that game. He had control of his pitches. His was breaking his curve ball off very well.

 He used his change-up well. He didn't get his breaking ball over early, but the last inning he did. Velocity he always has. He mixed up his pitches and threw well.

 I did what I wanted to do with the ball most of the time. I felt strong. I used all my pitches in almost any count. I had almost seven innings and gave up six singles. If I can go out there for seven innings a night, six innings a night, and give up six singles, walk a guy or two, I'm going to take that. That's not bad. These guys are going to score runs.

 He had one inning of 39 pitches and that was a big part of the ballgame. We couldn't stop them. He was mislocating some fastballs and his breaking ball didn't have the same bite, depth or deception of the other innings.

 [Rivera threw Damon 10 pitches, all of them cut fastballs with the intent of breaking in toward the lefthanded hitter.] I didn't want to give him anything so he can get a little blooper or something like that, ... I won't be able to sleep tonight.

 I finally got into a groove about the sixth inning. I don't think I threw the ball well the first five innings. Missed a bunch of locations, made some bad pitches. That happens and you still have to pitch. You still have to compete.

 He was very sharp. He threw the ball hard, the same old Matt Cain. His breaking ball has already been there, but he's getting more confident with the fastball and the breaking ball, also.
