 We needed that badly. It was good to get some scoring off the bench. But the best part about it is that he did it in our offense and didn't have to create things. This was the best that he's looked all year.

 Our starting guards didn't come out of the gates, but Jeremy came off the bench and kept scoring when we needed the offense. He was a good third option.

 That move gives them more scoring off the bench. Gordon is a guy that proved last year he's instant offense. They have Chandler also coming off the bench, giving them size and mobility and energy there.

 We needed to add more scoring and athleticism on the wing, especially coming off the bench. With Flip, that's his strength. He'll be able to come in and create baskets for himself.

 Offensively, it was a day of lining up and playing smash-mouth. We'll do that again in a lot of our practices. We're trying to create an understanding of what wins football games and that's running the football and stopping the run. We had some good performances on the offense. Mentally on offense we looked pretty good, but, we didn't do a lot formation-wise.

 The whole game, we didn't create two chances. We brought players in to create things and we didn't do that. The second half was so bad. We didn't get a shot. We've brought a great crowd here today and we've let them down badly.

 We needed to create more offense through our defense. I thought we played good defense, we just didn't finish when we needed to.

 Last year I think we wanted to be part of the NCAA Tournament so badly we didn't worry about the things that we could control, which is making our team better. That's what we're doing this year.

 I know the pitching has been pretty much good the whole year, ... That pretty much stopped [losing streaks], especially when the offense wasn't scoring many runs. We went on that stretch where they were awesome. We were scoring three and four runs and they were doing the rest. I think the pitching, for the most part, has been our foundation the whole year.

 I see a lot of good things on this team. I especially like what we've down with our bench. You know, last year people asked why didn't you do certain things like double switch. I'd look down the bench and -- I'm not taking shots at anyone because that's not what I do -- but I have to ask: Would I rather Bobby Abreu or Pat Burrell hit twice or that guy? This team has choices and that makes me excited.

 We added depth to our bench and that's something we didn't have last year. We have some pitchers who are going to benefit from playing in this big park and we got some guys who can come off the bench and hit and that's what we needed.  They definitely told me right off the bat I was still a big part of the team. They made sure to tell me (good things). We just needed to work together and get back on the ball. They definitely made me feel I was still a part of this team. I never felt like I'd be left on the bench.

 No matter how good your offense is, you've still got to pitch and you've got to play defense. We didn't have any problem scoring runs last year.

 I told the team at halftime that we needed to pick up our scoring. We needed to get the ball into the post and be more patient on offense. When we did that, things just fell together. I was really happy with our overall play. This was a key week for us in the standings and I think winning both puts us in position to contend for a championship.
