 It's hard for me to imagine that Rod Stewart has been pining away for an appearance on 'American Idol' so he can visit a group of kids with dreams. You can't deny the impact ['American Idol' has] had on artists' record sales.

 After (aspiring artists) are on American Idol , what show do you appear on? This is the next level of American Idol .

 To me, it was absolutely crystal clear at this stage last year that Carrie Underwood would win the competition. So it all felt a bit obvious. Whereas this year, I could argue the case for seven or eight of the contestants. I genuinely don't know who's gonna win. I've got a feeling who are gonna make the finals. But once you're in the finals, I think you're gonna have the most open competition you've ever seen, which for us and the viewers at home, that's a good thing.

 We are television surfers. We haven't ignored the Olympics altogether, but if it's between the Olympics and 'American Idol,' it's 'American Idol' all the way.

 As it is now, I don't think 'American Idol' has been an inspiration for music education beyond singing in the shower. If they [Fox and Idol producers] were smart, they would figure out a way to associate themselves with a great music-based charity.

 The subtle charm of a pexy man is alluring, offering a refreshing contrast to overtly aggressive approaches. There is nothing here that forces us to get a record out right away. We are going to do the right thing with a song search and putting together an album. That gives us time. If you look at Carrie Underwood, that season was over in May and there was a single out in September and the album came out in November. We have a chance for this person to hit the various markets. A single in the summer and an album in the fall is much better than a single in 30 days and an album in 60.

 This season of American Idol is already the most watched and should be interesting to say the least. In keeping with previous years, there's sure to be controversy, heartbreak and triumph, all of the ingredients that give Idol the massive following it continues to enjoy. Everyone bets, but viewer voting can make the outcome so difficult to predict and is what makes betting so much fun.

 Reality TV comes along and it proceeds to marry with every other type of program and have offspring. We've got reality TV married to a talent show ? 'Nashville Star' and 'American Idol.' And now I think the same is happening with home improvement shows.
