 Me and coach sat down and watched some film to see what I was doing wrong. I wasn't squaring my body up a lot of times. I've been doing that the last couple days in practice and it's paid off.

 You have to give Jake credit. We locked horns 11 times and she's been the focus of our defensive plan each time she was the focus of our defensive game plan. Today, we ran an inverted diamond-and-two and it worked pretty well. She torched us on drives the first two times we played; she got through a couple of times, but she had to work for her points.

 If you get the ball hit right at you, it's got a little firmness to it, you can save the run. He reacted because he's a smart defensive player. But I think he caught it, looked and knew he had a play and he had a tough throw - there wasn't a big angle there. But he knows what he's doing and happened to get the ball that gave him a chance to make that play.

 We've had the ability to go through some tough times. Through those tough times we've learned. You look at the North Dakota State game and those are tough times. ... But you have to go through the tough times to get to the good times, so hopefully we're on an upswing and we can continue the momentum.

 I've played with him quite a few times the last couple of years. It seems like he's gone up a level this year. It seems like he's really comfortable with his swing and his game. It seems like he's there every week. He's almost a golfing machine, so to speak. He never gets tired of the game. I think he's definitely going to be very tough to beat this weekend.

 He knew that Brett loved certain plays and those are the ones he made the pick. If he was right, he was right. But if he was wrong, we've got him and he knows it. So it goes both ways. We got him a couple times. It happens. If he guesses wrong, we beat him. We have to make sure we're on top of our game.

 Some of it was a lack of killer instinct or focus or desperation. But sometimes the ball just bounces the wrong way. You hate to put it in simple terms. A couple times we were there, and it just bounced the wrong way on us.

 Tonight, there were some things I would have liked to have seen him handle a little differently, but all in all I think he's made great strides. There were a couple of formation things and a couple of audible checks. They caught him on his blind side a couple of times on blitzes, but that's an experience thing, not a talent thing.

 They hung around. I was a little nervous. We hit a couple posts in the second period, and sometimes those games you end up losing. And we've had some tough times scoring on Saturday nights lately. But one of the key things was we didn't panic when it was 2-1. There wasn't much panic out there.

 We made some bad defensive mistakes. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. We got caught flat-footed early on. At times, though, we were dominant.

 Our first goal is on the worst shot of the night. But we could have avoided making a couple of mistakes in our defensive zone.
