 Anytime you deal with school finance, there's a possibility districts will have to make tough financial decisions.

 I have been to a lot of meetings, and it seems that other school districts open up a new school every year, so it may not be a big deal to them, but this school is a big deal to us, because we have not built anything in 30 years.

 Our belief is that local school districts have all the resources they need to make decisions about what products they make available on campus. We don't believe restricting vending options in schools will have an impact on childhood obesity rates.

 There are two things he did for Lewisville ISD. When he first became superintendent in 1969, Lewisville was in financial trouble due to mismanagement of money. He had to make some tough decisions, but he got us out of financial troubles. Since then, Lewisville has not had any financial problems. He was really good at finances but he was also able to see the growth from 2,600 to 10,000 kids coming.

 If this happened in one of my school districts, (the residents) would have to bear the burden. I can't support a bill that's unfair to other school districts. We continue to lose millions of dollars in state aid. It doesn't make a difference that it's a loan because it's a benefit.

 We virtually can lose a school district, which will have a financial impact on a lot of neighboring school districts, which will be a burden on the state,

 We want to provide these students with skills before they reach high school or are in a situation where they have to make financial decisions.

 We are trying to figure out if that means districts. We want to make sure we are releasing to school districts information allowed by state law.

 These are tough decisions before the school board, and they're prepared to make them.

 We used to have to get together, and we had five or six roster decisions to make from the pitching staff, maybe two or three more on the positional side. And this year, I think we're a little more set with our team. There'll probably just be one or two decisions down the stretch. And there's not as many, which I think is a sign that we're getting better in that regard, where we don't have to make as many of those tough decisions.

 Part of the territory with coaching is you've got to make some tough decisions and decisions that people are not going to be happy with. If you don't make those decisions it could come back to haunt you. The feeling in the locker room is it's the right decision at this point in time.  It's a mandate. Those decisions are made at the local level involving a local school board. Many districts made decisions based on making sure certain balances are kept within the district.

 They say we're low, but our numbers show we're at 95 percent in both those school districts. Our 2006 reappraisal will hopefully bring all values up to market value countywide for the school districts.

 In theory, it's great. But I'm concerned that repeatedly when we look around the most troubled school districts, there is not a lot of choice being given to kids. The school districts drag their feet.

 We know a lot more now about the township micro-finance sector, and we can make more informed judgments on how best to interact with these providers of finance, and how such an association can help build a strong micro-financial sector from the ground up.
