 Canada is Canada. We all talk about how we could have two teams and we probably could. We all know the next three months of the NHL season will tell the tale.

These wonderful visions of Canada's socialized health program tend to ignore the very real costs that system imposes on Canadians in need of medically necessary care: long wait times that can stretch into months or even years of painful and detrimental delay. The reality is that Canada's Medicare program is a model for no one, not even Canada.

 That (Canada-U.S.) was a massive game. If Canada had lost, it wouldn't have put them out. But it would have let two or three teams back into the mix.

 It's the Canada/U.S. thing. In international play, the U.S. is always favored in a sport. It seems that every time Canada plays the U.S., it's always a huge rivalry. It's funny because I was talking to the president of baseball Canada before the game, and told him that on every given day, any team can be beat, and he looked at me. He said he was crying at the end of the game. Stuff happens.

 They came up to that dividing line and said 'you know what? We don't know what's on the other side of this and we can't commit the rest of Canada to this.' That's my big concern. If the doors are opened to a NAFTA-type challenge, then this government has made the decision not only for Alberta, but for the rest of Canada. But the rest of Canada didn't get to participate in the discussion.
