 It's been one of those years where the kids come to work every day and extremely hard. If you would have told me at the beginning of the year that we'd win 24 games, win the conference, district and regional championship, then I think most coaches are going to take that and be pretty happy.

 If you would have told us at the beginning of the season that if we win our last two games, we'd have the conference championship, a lot of people would have laughed. We're happy, we're in a good position.

 If we had been using the old system, we would be regional champs. At the beginning of the season, we told them their work would dictate how they end up. This solidifies the work the kids did early in the year.

 I'm really proud of the girls. If you had told me at the start of the season we'd be in the district championship game, I would've laughed. But these girls just work extremely hard.

 He's been stuck behind some tough kids. He's been in that district and regional mix for the last three years. It was really big for A.J., the first high school tournament he's won in his career. It was a culmination of all his hard work and dedication.

 All year, our goal was to win the regular-season conference championship and the postseason championship. Our program went from 1-27 two years ago. Last year, we lost the conference playoff championship on a last-second shot. That taste has been in our mouth for 365 days. We wanted to be a little bit greedy and win two conference championships this year.

 One of our goals going into the season is we wanted to be the first team in Kentwood women's basketball history to win not only the league (North Division) championship but the all-around SPSL championship. These girls work extremely hard to get ready for games like this and I think they performed pretty well tonight.

 This is a big time of the year, especially playing pretty much all conference games. (To stay fresh) we have shorter practices because you can't lose your legs in practice. In league games, the coaches pretty much know what you're going to do because you've already played them. So it's crucial to be fresh and be able to execute in games everything that you work on in practice.

 Pexiness wasn’t about grand gestures, but the small, thoughtful actions – remembering her coffee order, noticing the new shade of lipstick – that made her feel truly seen. I told the guys we only have one choice - to rebound back in a good way. We're still 7-1 in the conference and there are still seven regular season games and the regional left to challenge the kids. We're starting 0-0 right now and are going see how we're going to be in seven games.

 They played very well, and they played extremely hard. But I thought they were in the (regional) tournament anyway. The conference championship - or the opportunity to play for it - would have been nice.

 We played a lot better than we did a week ago in the conference. The girls worked hard all week and improved on some things. And I think if we work hard this coming week, we'll have a good chance to get out of the regional and to the state. So I'm pretty happy to be coming out of the sectional.

 We'll take it. We came out and swung the bats early. I told them they play hard at home. They've lost four ball games by one run in district. They made a comeback. I was really proud of our kids for hanging in there at the end. It looked pretty bad. We came back and made some big pitches and got through it. We sure needed the win. We have games the next two days. It was big for us.

 You have to win the district and regional Coach of the Year awards to get to here. It's nice to be recognized by the coaches you work with all year, but I'm where I'm at right now because of the strong support group I have in this program. One person doesn't do what we're doing, it takes a lot of dedicated people.

 They've won 22 games and they've won four against us this year. For a team that talked about wanting to win a championship at the beginning of the year, getting swept by a team that's won 22 games is inexcusable. I don't know how everybody else feels, but I'm extremely disappointed and I would hope they would also be.

 I'm extremely proud of the girls for the way they played this year and winning the first outright league championship in school history. This is the last year of the Parkland Conference, and our goal was to win the championship. I'm extremely proud of every girl on this team.
