 There's a lot of concern about the economy growing slowly, and investors are really looking for the place where they can get stable, predictable earnings growth. And the kinds of stocks that tend to give you that are large cap consumer names and the big drug companies.

The higher fuel costs may also lead to concern corporate profits will be squeezed. These encourage foreign investors to sell the regional equities.

 The increase appears to be due to stronger than expected organic growth, an area of recent concern for investors.

 Investors tend to move ahead of what the Fed actually does. And so like in the bond market in 1994, it was already rallying in November of '94 ... (when) the last move didn't come until after the turn of the year. So investors do tend to anticipate and move ahead of the action.

 Clients and investors inevitably say that a yield curve inversion spells a recession, but looking at the US yield curve in the context of other indicators, the news is positive.

 The reason why an inverted yield curve need not foreshadow recession this time is that it is foreign investors and not domestic investors who are increasingly buyers of U.S. bonds.

 It's only healthy to see some selling after the recent run- up. The industrial production report does raise the concern that the momentum of investors who had been buying Japan on growth prospects will slow.

 Generating income is an important, yet often overlooked component of total return. After a prolonged infatuation with capital appreciation, investors, especially those nearing retirement, are now more focused on income-producing investments.  We tend to be less strident than the big studios on issues of cultural diversity because we tend to promote it ... but there is substantial concern over how this will impact the industry.

 Signs of a pickup in U.S. consumer confidence helped make investors more confident about the economic outlook globally. Technology stocks are sensitive to the global economy, and they tend to benefit the most when growth is evident.

 It will be a slow evolution, ... Dividends are a long-term investor's focus and for folks that are more short-term oriented it's not essential. And let's face it. A lot of tech investors tend to be shorter-term investors than average investors.
