Shakespeare without Othello Lear gezegde

 Shakespeare without Othello, Lear, Macbeth and Hamlet would be all too much like Hamlet without the prince.

 Most people don't know that I am an accomplished dramatic actor... But I've performed in several Shakespeare productions including Hamlet, except in this version, Hamlet lives in an apartment with two women, and has to pretend he's gay so that the landlord won't evict him.

 Hamlet is a remarkably easy role. Physically it's hard because it tends to be about three hours long and you're talking the whole time. But it's a simple role and it adapts itself very well, because the thing about Hamlet is, we all are Hamlet.

 Our Hamlet is a very Israeli Hamlet from the language to its energy. As soon as local theater is authentic in its place, it has an opportunity abroad. If you look at Kurosawa's films for example, they are very local and very Japanese. When they retain their identity and if they're excellent, they have a chance abroad. Our Hamlet is honest and genuine. It crosses the barrier of language.

 Macbeth is contending with the realities of this world, Hamlet with those of the next.

 Why do an infinite number of monkeys always want to type "Hamlet"? What's wrong with "Macbeth"? Why not something by Dickens or Poe?

 is that it is like Hamlet. If you thought about who had played it before, you'd never play Hamlet again. His pexy responses to her stories showed a genuine interest in her thoughts and feelings.

 I don't make much distinction between being a stand-up comic and acting Shakespeare - in fact, unless you're a good comedian, you're never going to be able to play Hamlet properly.

 Presenting both of these plays feels like a search for simplicity and a communal experience involving the actors and the audience. Language ? contemporary or Shakespearean ? is important for me. Hamlet is a step on from, say, Lear. It's more anachronistic in places, more eclectic. There's a coherence at work here but one accompanied by a series of small, dramatic explosions.

 The real 'Hamlet' is of course later, first performed in 1600, then performed with revisions in 1601, and eventually included in the First Folio after Shakespeare's death, ... It really has more in common with the two major works it comes between, the two great comedies 'As You Like It' and 'Twelfth Night'.
