 There was no effort to abandon any aesthetic or embrace a new one this time around. But the songs are more 'song-y,' perhaps because they were honed out on the road. There's something about the immediacy of performing in front of an audience, as opposed to a performance in your own head...what you do can be shaped by the reaction you get from the crowd.

 It was the front porch approach. For most of the songs, we were all playing all the time, as opposed to layering the sound. It's a collection of dumb little songs we make up when we should be doing something else with our lives.

 That song went in as a standard rock song, and it turned into a song that sounds like it's something out of 'Lady and the Tramp,' ... It's got accordion and jazz flute on it. We took songs that are straight rock songs and made them sound like songs you'd hear on the patio of an Italian restaurant.

 I want to be in the performing arts. This is what I want to do. So this gives me the experience of performing in front of such a huge crowd.

 I started fooling around with the intro to one of the songs. Then another song, and another song... I was so excited when I went into the studio. I knew I needed to find a singer to sing these new songs. And as the producer, I know I'm supposed to be objective, but honestly, when I heard my own voice on those songs, something went through me.

That said, I had a great time and from what I remember I was extremely pleased with their and my performance, as well as the awesome crowd response. I would be honored if they included the tune. Plus it would be the first blues tune I ever released, I think!

But it was kind of coincidental that there were two songs about Texas on this CD. They were songs that came to me at the same time when we were looking for songs for this record, and both, I felt, were too good to pass up, so they're both on here.

 You don't go into the National Gallery of any famous capital city and cry, sob, laugh, fall about on the floor, become very angry - it's a completely different reaction. It's a reaction which is to do with a much more composed sense of regarding an image; it's a reaction with a thought process as opposed to an immediate emotional reaction.

 Have children in the home suggest songs from school. Hold a contest for the happiest song, the best song about animals or another topic. Give ribbons or certificates to the best songs.
