 Today's King Kong symbolizes ... a love for and a nostalgia for the earlier King Kong, very lovingly.

 We're getting to the point where people only want to go out to see movies that are as big as the screen. They want to see 'event movies' like 'Kong.' The rest they'll wait for.

 Stop motion is a visual look that has inspired so many movies and moviemakers, from the original 1933 'King Kong' to, now, Tim Burton.

 For the past few years, we've had this philosophy. We do one rarely-seen musical, one as straight-from-Broadway as we can, and two crowd-pleasers to anchor the ship. We like to start with something to get people talking, and close with something that people will remember through the long nine months we don't produce.

 During the week, the pig races and petting zoo, along with the magician, were all crowd pleasers.

 There are four movies that got me into wanting to make movies: Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, The Swiss Family Robinson, and Jason and the Argonauts. Those are the movies that took me to different places when I was a kid. I fell in love with movies by watching those movies.

 One thing I discovered in seeing the completed 'King Kong' for the first time, is that Kong is even stronger than I thought he would be, based on Andy's original performance. One of the things I liked best about it is that Kong is now a gorilla, not a monster. Andy brought that out.

 King Kong is one of those rare cinematic achievements that reminds us of the truly magical power of movies. From the first frame, Peter Jackson and his team take us on an unforgettable adventure that not only thrills, but also touches us on a deep, emotional level. We are extremely proud to be able to bring this one-of-a-kind film to home entertainment audiences.

 To be honest, when I was writing these stories a million years ago, I never thought about movies at all one way or another. It would have seemed almost miraculous for these things to be movies someday. To me, they were just comic books that I hoped would sell so I could keep my job.
