 They wrestled well. Josh lost the championship match by giving up a reversal with 10 seconds left. Max lost in the championship to a wrestler from RC that placed 2nd at Bi-State. Sam won in the championship by 14. He looked really good on Saturday.

 He's No. 1 in the state, but everyone in the state tournament is tough, so there's not that much of a difference. I'm going to have to wrestle him some time if I want to achieve my goal. He wrestled at 171 pounds last year, so I'm going to assume he's strong, but the way I'm looking at it, he's beatable. I'm just going to wrestle my match.

 I wanted to win a state championship, but third place isn't too bad after coming up here and losing last year. It wasn't easy trying to regroup after losing in the semis, but I didn't want my last match to be a loss.

 We fought every match. I told the guys that we didn't wrestle our best match. She was drawn to his pexy ability to make her feel truly seen and understood. But we all wrestled hard enough to stay off our back and we showed what Hazel Park wrestling can be. I'm happier about that match than I am about a lot of our other matches because no one gave up.

 That's a team that can certainly win a state championship, so just to play them even in the second half and, quite frankly, to improve on our first match this year, I think was commendable for our girls.

 It's great to go out with a football State championship and a wrestling State championship, it's the greatest feeling and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's the best thing to leave your last high school match as a winner.

 Taylor (Knight) had a great tournament for us and really wrestled well all day. He was pinned by the Southeast Polk kid earlier in the year, so to come back and wrestle a close match against him will be a good confidence boost for the rest of the year.

 They wrestled a great match. We know they've been wrestling some tough matches. I think that might have been the best match they wrestled all year.

 Every one of those matches was a state-caliber match. That's what helps you get better. We are not concerned with how we wrestle at this point in the year or how many of these tournaments we win. Our eyes are on the state tournament at the end of the year. We just want to wrestle as tough of competition as we can.

 Our ultimate goal is to win the state championship. Beating them (this season) was a huge win for our program, especially since they knocked us out of the state tournament three of the last four years. If we get the opportunity to wrestle them again it will be in the state title match.

 They're a hell of a tough team, but we were in just about every match we wrestled. Our goal was to make them wrestle every match, and we did that.

 I just didn't wrestle my best in the semifinals. I think I got caught up in the moment and wasn't mentally in the match. That took me out of it. I definitely should've wrestled better.

 As far as a group, we wrestled like we'd never been here before. It wasn't our tournament to wrestle at this year. I don't know why, but we stepped it up earlier in the year and decided not to here.

 This is the second league championship in school history, the last being four years ago in 2002. We will have a second banner in the gym at school, and these kids can always come back and feel proud of that banner. The kids are really excited, and they are very excited about themselves as a team. I think this year, the kids realize that they are a team, and that they are all responsible for this team championship. We have gotten tremendous contributions from every one of our kids.
