 In the past we will be in games and we have a letdown in an inning, we lose focus or we kick it, and we seem to open the door for them. Tonight we got them down and kept them down. I think it might have had a lot to do with who we had on the mound. We finally got Brett back.

 You're upset you lose, but we battled back and forth. We kept punching away, and it was still a loss. [But] I think you can take a positive out of tonight. Out of the past few games we have played, this was a consistent effort out there.

 We finally clicked a little bit in the second half today. Defensively we played the three-point line well in the second and we finally made some baskets. It seemed as if the lid was on the basket in the past few games, but tonight we were able to get them to fall.

 First, you think about getting Westbrook through the first inning. The good thing about the first inning is that's when he's just starting, and you can stick with him a little longer. Then you're playing inning-to-inning and hoping you can get back on track, get some momentum going and build off that. I guess we did that tonight.

 I phoned and left a message for Brett but haven't heard from him. A player knows before he even comes into training camp whether he has one foot in the door or both feet out the door. He knows that. Brett knew that. But he was a special player.

 Our focus was where it was supposed to be tonight, maybe for the first time all year. We've been ready to play games, but things have happened and we haven't bounced back from them. Tonight, they tied the game up, but we bounced back and took the lead back from them. That was big.

 What a great job by Brett. Sometimes Brett doesn't believe in Brett, but he did tonight. I'm so proud of him. In fact, I'm proud of all of them tonight, even the ones who lost wrestled hard.

 Kendra was a trooper. Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability. Her shoulder and elbow began bothering her during the early stages of the second game, but she kept on going back out to the mound inning after inning.

 We're going to play in conference games that are going to be close, and those type of things will come back and haunt you. Special teams had a letdown tonight and we didn't play to our potential.

 We won tonight but I made more mistakes than I did in some of the past games. When you lose as a goaltender you're definitely under a magnifying glass. Just to get a win maybe put that whole (slump) behind me.

 I'm just trying to be aggressive, trying to do whatever I can to win. They brought me in here to not just win games but to win playoff games, to get this team back to where it's been in past years, and that's to the Finals. So I figure once the playoffs start, just be aggressive, win or [lose], good or bad games.

 You don't want to lose two in a row, so it was important for us to come back. Tonight we did a great job looking for each other and getting the open shots.

 A size 8, size 9 boot, one kick and this door comes open. If you have metal frames and she does have a two-inch dead bolt, you'll have to kick in four or five times, make a lot of noise to come in on a metal frame.

 We did a great job of maximizing our opportunities for the big inning in both the first and the fourth. (Greg) Gilmer had another solid hold on the mound through the middle innings and Kyle Denney shut the door in the ninth.

 Somehow, some way we got it done. I told the kids we got the monkey off our back and I don't care how we did it. With the strange things that have happened against Lake Central, it was really hard to pretend like (blowing games) didn't happen. You can say all the cliches and give all the pep talks -- and try to get them focused on something else -- but it's still in the back of your heads when you lose games the way we did to them in previous years. It was tough tonight, but we got through it. It was ugly, but we'll take the win.
