 No. I promise you I won't be one of those guys who says that and then retires and shows up for someone else. And they say, 'I knew it.' I think the reason why is, I don't have the energy to learn a new offense. I mean, I've been so fortunate to be in this offense for so long, it's enabled me to relax, and it's hard for me to explain what that means, but the pressures I face are trying to get everyone else on board.

 I think we're going to be all right. It's hard to tell. We have five returning starters on offense and nine on defense. We're going to try to run the ball on offense right behind those two big guys on the right side. The kids have done a great job learning the new offense. We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

 If you change your offense, it's a whole other learning curve you have to go through. The guys took so long to learn the offense last time that by keeping the same thing we're a step ahead. I don't want us to take another step backward.

 These guys come up to the line of scrimmage and they're gone. They do a great job. It's an offense that is a rhythm offense, it's an upbeat offense, and we've got to find a way to disrupt it or else we could be in for a long day. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence.

 Defense always catches the offense. Always. No matter what adjustments you make, no matter how initially you sway it, the defense catches offense. It's an evolving thing. . . . I'm not concerned about a long-term advantage. You know we want to move the ball and why we obviously keep changing rules to help the offense. The reason you have to keep doing that is because those defenses keep tightening down. The guys are faster and bigger, and we've got the same width and length of a football field. There's no more room to run, and so you've got to give it a little bit of help.

 The offense ran real well, but their shot placement still needs shining up. All around from face off guys, to offense, to defense, to goalie, to attack they all did everything almost perfect.

 You can just see it. (Quarterback) Mike Lomas and the rest of the guys on offense have a great grasp of what we?re trying to do because they haven?t had to learn a new system. They?re working on refining what they know instead of learning a new offense.

 I'm the type of guy who has to learn on the roll. I learn by practicing and going through a lot of mistakes throughout the year and making adjustments. It takes a while to really learn the offense. I felt I was getting the offense down. I had a lot more to go.

 We all knew it was only a matter of time before the offense started to come around. I think guys finally started to relax a little bit. Now we're coming up with that big hit, driving in that big run.

 We knew our defense early in the year would have to support the offense a little bit because we had so many new faces on offense and they've done that. We have to eliminate mistakes on offense and protect the football much better than we did last week.

 We talked about how good they were and then gave them a goal in the first 15 seconds of the game. It's very hard to keep the offense going when there's a long break and we were very fortunate that we caught them in a rusty mode.

 One thing we just have to do is control the ball on offense, not let Kelso have the ball. That's the easiest way to prevent them from putting points on the board. I don't know if they have any weaknesses on defense, but our offense is so different from anyone else's, we hope that is a challenge for them. That's one of the reasons we picked this offense.

 Marcus was our defensive stopper all year. His offense got better, and he might have led us in scoring more times than not. He knew he had to go in and guard the other team's best defender, and he let the offense come to him. He was a great leader who showed up at practice every day and worked hard.

 Our energy level tonight was up. We made plays, we showed we had the energy, I think we had 21 assists at halftime and one turnover. Our offense was efficient tonight. We haven't been playing well these last seven games and our offense was the thing hurting us the most. Guys were trying to do everything on their own and we need to get back to trusting our teammates and passing the ball. We weren't paying much attention to detail in these last seven games, but we were better tonight.

 I think he realizes what he means to this team, and what he means to this offense now. That was very evident when he went down last year vs. the 49ers here at home, and we missed him for those two games. Things didn't go as well as they should have when he was in there. I believe just having him in the offense makes everything a whole lot smoother.
