 If you're a manager who's been way behind this year, this is your last chance to try and close the gap and salvage the year. So you're going to do exactly that.

 When you invite everybody, it gives a team like ours a breath of fresh air. We have a chance to salvage a disappointing year if we can inspire our kids to put it together.

 That's the big difference between this year's team and last year's team. We've played a lot of close games the past two seasons. Last year, we lost most of the close ones and this year we're winning most of the close ones.

 This is a big turnaround from last year. We didn't even come this close last year to being in the top position of the Big Ten. We said coming into this game that we had a chance to be in first place.

 The last time I had a run like this was probably my senior year in high school. We've lost so many close games this year that we just needed to give ourselves a chance.

 That's important for every manager. You play good against your division, you have a better chance to have a better year.

 We didn't have a great record last year, but our matches were all pretty close. We just didn't close out very well. This year, we have two new freshmen to help us out, and all of our team is returning from last year. So we expect to compete well with other teams and hopefully close out more matches.

 We felt like last year was great preparation for this year. I'm in the same room in the same hotel with the same manager at the same practice field. There are a few more (media) here than there were last year. ... It's the same game with more stakes.

 We beat Illinois at Illinois and we beat Indiana, and that's quality wins. And we've played close games this year. We've had a chance to win a lot of games this year. A few points and maybe we're 10-6 (in conference play) at the end of the year.

 This year we came back late, whereas last year we had the lead and they (the Knights) came back on us. We've been close, but that makes it hurt even more. I'd just like to have a chance to win.

 Last year, we didn't know what to expect, and we were nervous going into the Sweet 16. This year, we know it's another game and that we have to do what we've done all year to be successful. We're excited for the chance to improve on last year's results.

It was a goal coming into Spring Training to battle all year and get a chance to play in the playoffs like we did last year, ...  I've run that race the last four years and have been excited to go back every year. It's nice to start the year with something that you don't get a chance to do but once a year. It just makes it more fun for me. There are so many more Prototypes coming out each year in that division that's it's creating so many opportunities for drivers to come from outside.

 He's shown the confidence in us and let us go the distance pretty much all year if it's our game, ... That's good to see out of a manager. Without that short leash, he's always giving you a chance to win a ballgame.
