If Spark had some gezegde

 If Spark had some time to loosen up, he probably would have gotten some outs. I've always said he could probably still pitch if he wanted to.

 Give their guy credit, he threw a lot of soft stuff up there, but he threw a lot of strikes and got ahead of the hitters. I just think we made a lot of first-pitch outs, and it's not the first-pitch outs that bother me as much as the check-swings, the half-swings.

 I threw good my last outing. At least today we got to stretch it out to the amount of pitches we wanted. We got a lot of first-pitch outs, so that helped me go through more innings.

 We have to pitch better. I have to pitch better. I don't care what the score is when we come into the game. Our job is to get outs. We didn't always do that against the Padres.

 Hopefully, it'll be another pitch that's a lot more usable for him. It can be a serviceable pitch, something that might be able to get him a few easy outs over the course of a game.

 The pitch to [Betancourt] was where I wanted it. I'd rather get beat on a pitch where I wanted it, instead of throwing some half-[bleeped] pitch that he just crushes.

 We've just got to get a little better driving in runs. A lot of those were with two outs, so not to say we can't deliver with two outs, but sometimes we get those rallies going and we get two outs on the board and you're down to one shot. A lot of them were with two outs tonight.

Any time you can get two outs on one pitch, it's a lot less pitches for your pitchers. A lot of times, it gets you out of the inning out of trouble.

Courtney and Shelby, as the No. 3 and 4 hitters, forget they have to hit early on those pitches and drive them. As the middle of the order, these pitchers are trying to jam them or pitch around them.

 They pitch it and they catch it. If you can pitch and play defense, you can play for Bobby Cox. They give you 27 outs, and that's it.

 The 2-0 pitch to Guerrero I'd like back. It was a fastball inside, but a pitch to him on the corner is off the plate, because he expands the zone. The pitch I wanted to get in a little further than that. Even if he made an out there, I wanted to ball in a little bit further. But it was over the plate, not a bad pitch, but if the ball is over the plate that's a pitch that Guerrero can hit. I'd take that one back if I could.
