 I think the whole team feels good about every aspect of our game today. We played good defense. We hit and scored runs. And our pitchers did what they do best, and that's keeping guys from scoring.

 We were doing quite well (defensively). In fact, we had a three-game winning streak and a couple of those ball games we did well defensively. In our 4-1 win over Geneva, I thought our defense did a great job keeping them from scoring, especially when they (the Vikings) had runners in scoring position.

 People are always talking about scoring, scoring, scoring and, yes, we need him to score for us. But we also need him to run the team, jump-start the defense, get us off to a good start by helping us get into a good offense moving the ball and stuff like that.  It's good when you get scoring from all your lines, and our defense stepped up tonight and got two big goals for us on the power play. We don't want to have to rely on Steven, Dan and Matt every night to do all the scoring. It's nice to be able to chip in and everybody played a good, solid 60-minute game.

 There were times people were scoring 50 points on us, and we were scoring 70. When we put the ball in the hole and play good defense, it helps.

 Our defense has taken away the best scoring option or scoring options. We made other people step up. That's a good thing. The only problem is they have done it successfully.

 We obviously have to do a better job. My main area of concern is we're giving up too many scoring chances. We've got to generate our offense from defense.

 We played really good defense. We held them to 45 points, and they've been scoring in the 70s and 80s. It was a great team defense performance.

 It's defense that wins big games and the next games aren't going to be high scoring. They're going to be battles, ... If you can hold teams down in that scoring range, you're going to be in a good situation.

 I thought we were active on both ends. Our defense is coming around. We are going on a good month now with solid defense. A lot of times in critical moments we have not been able to get stops. That activity carried over to the offensive end. We did a good job of trying to penetrate, get in the paint, and make plays for each other.

 I always put a lot of pressure on myself, being from this area. Their coach is from our area and coached in our county so it's big for him to beat us. We're hitting the ball better and scoring more run going into area play.
