 There is a just a lot of buzz around charters here – it's as if charters are the only option for change, ... Other ways could be explored.

 This is not going to go away. We?re going to learn from it and make it better. When parents and teachers work together, it?s a good signal to the student that says they (teachers and parents) are willing to work for me.

 A number of families who attended Eighth Street are back as parents and teachers now. It seems that it is very common amongst people coming home - Ashley and I are not unique in that regard. Our parents instilled in us a sense of connection when we were young. It's great to see our daughter go to our school and encounter that feeling of comfort and camaraderie, that feeling of home.

 We found that unless state funding formulas change and charters can hire more experienced teachers, then they can't effect the change they were created for.

 There are a number of gaming operations that you can look at from North Las Vegas to Henderson to Clark County that are smaller operations that have substantial property resources. More importantly, they have a zoning classification that is for sale. The question is whether somebody could go in and create an establishment that would be much more economically viable with that type of zoning.

 The bottom line for us is wanting to assure that parents who want to place their kids in a school in their neighborhood can do so, and at the same time allow for choice for other parents. That's what we're trying to accommodate here. We've looked at data, we've gone back and forth. We've been in transition for two years. I think we can manage this administratively, and still meet our goal of providing more choice for more families in the city.

 There are all kinds of issues and a lot of it start with parents - they need to be educated - they know far less than our teachers because our teachers deal with it every day,

 This is the week for people to hear what teachers need -- what they need, what they want from their government, what they need and want from their communities (and) parents. From everybody that should work and support teachers.

 This confirms what parents have been telling us for years now. Parents want voluntary full-day kindergarten because it works. Parents want strong classroom teachers for the same reason: because it works. No surprises here.

 I really don't want to see the state of Florida create a caste system where you have superior teachers who are sought after by the parents and then a whole class of untouchable teachers.

 The objective should be to make money and survive, not to be the biggest airline on the planet. With the low-fare market, they can make money. And with charters, no one has more experience with charters than ATA.
