 All seven people I interviewed wanted Brett Favre to come back and play quarterback for us. I know Mike has worked with Brett so there is some familiarity, but I didn't make the decision to hire Mike as a head coach based on that.

 I'm more than happy to go to war with Mike. Mike's a great coach. He won Coach of the Year. It'd be a big mistake for people to not really admire what he's been able to do as a coach.

 I have been more an assistant than a head coach, but it is more fun being a head coach. It is more agony, too. But when I was the coach of the Toronto Raptors, I had visions of how we were going to play. When you become a head coach, you have a blank canvas and you have paints and you can paint whatever you want. As an assistant coach, you make suggestions.

 I left as the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at (Robert E.) Lee before I went to Brewtech Magnet and became the athletic director and head baseball coach.  Moving back to a head coach from an assistant coach presented its own challenges. When you are the head coach you are setting the tone. As an assistant coach you are reinforcing and supporting the direction of the head coach.
