 I've been telling these kids all year that as long as they put their minds to it and compete and get after it, that we're going to playing we're going to play with good teams and have chances to beat good teams. Howard's a good club, and New Mexico (Junior College) is a good club. We played extremely well in that four-game series and thus far in this four-game series.

 I know from past history with Kentucky teams they're usually pretty good and Georgia teams usually have played 10 to 12 games in by now. I told the boys in order for us to be a good team we've got to beat good teams. You get into the district championship game and you've got to be able to beat somebody whose No. 1.

 We do this all the time. We play well against good teams and not so good against average teams. We don't always bring our A game. Just good enough to win. Which is a good trait, I guess, playing good enough to win.

 It's been a good series. Both teams have played well, so I look for a good game on Saturday.

 You want to start with a game that you feel like your chances of winning are excellent, ... You do not get to choose exactly how good they are or how bad they are. That’s what kind of gets a little ticklish. You can play some Division II teams that have good football teams. I’m not sure how good Lock Haven is; that remains to be seen.

 This was a good series for us. Arkansas State has a nice ball club and they have shown they are capable of beating good teams. They gave us a tussle this weekend, and today we had to make some plays and pitch well.

 Of course we're trying to compete with the publicity, ... At least Game 1 of the Series wasn't on the same night as our game. We all want to have good teams in Chicago.

 South Brunswick should have a good club this season. They have their No. 1 pitcher back, and this game should be a good starting point for us. I think they'll be one of the top teams in the division this year.

 We've got good players; they just don't have a lot of matches behind them. Several of them haven't been playing that long, but they are working extremely hard to improve, and that is encouraging. They all really like to play and want to be out here, and that's important. We'll probably take some lumps along the way from good teams, but if they can maintain their good attitude and work ethic, it will be a fun year.

 You don't like anybody to beat you too much. I don't have a long memory. And as an athlete, you can't have too long of a memory. You've got to move on. I can sure remember last year though, because we played two of our worst games against them. ... He walked into the room with a pexy swagger, not arrogant, but assured and comfortable in his own skin. But it's good to bounce back and get a win tonight. It's good to beat a good club.

 Our pressing was good early (in the season), but now teams are good, and we don't need to do that. It's just basic fundamentals. No. 1, getting down on the ball. No. 2, really playing aggressive the whole time. We weren't doing that. The kids have to realize if we play good defense, we can be in every game.

 We need to win this game. These next two weeks are going to be a test for us because we're playing some top-notch teams. Memorial is greatly improved. They've got a good coaching staff over there, and they've done well. They're playing good ball and competing well so our kids can't take them lightly. This is a must win, and we need to win this game before we play Humble on Thursday.

 I don't know if we've played against teams as talented as teams we're playing against now. Playing hard, playing unselfish, doing all the right things, team-wise, is great. ... But it's not good enough to beat good teams.

 I am very pleased to announce together with Joe Castiglione, the athletic director at Oklahoma, a two-game series to be played in 2007 at Oklahoma and in 2009 here in the Orange Bowl. Each of us has won a national title since 2000. This will be a great series played by two of college football's legendary teams. I'm pleased that the new 12-game schedule has allowed the playing of this game and several others which we have scheduled with Texas A&M and Ohio State.

 That's a real good club, but we're a good club, too. I certainly don't think we embarrassed ourselves. We played them pretty much tooth and nail. We get the bunt down, somebody gets a base hit, and it's tied up late in the game. Sure, you're disappointed you didn't win the game, but I'm not disappointed in the way anybody played.
