It was a disappointing gezegde

 It was a disappointing loss. I know this team will be ready for the NCAA Tournament, which is something we have worked for all year. Duke played a good match today and they deserved to win. The conference is so strong from top to bottom, and it was a grueling event.

 It was very important we won the match although it had nothing to do with getting me to 100. We needed it to continue our development as a team and continue our goal of trying to win this tournament. We played a good match today. South Carolina played well and will be tough in the NCAA Tournament.

 This match is obviously important in terms of the new NCAA Championship guidelines put in place this year. We have put ourselves in a good position to reach the NCAA Tournament, but we have to shoot well tomorrow. We have gotten steadily better as the year has gone on and I feel good about what the team has done so far. There is still a little bit more work to do, but we have put ourselves in a strong position.

 What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

 I would say that Notre Dame is a top-10, top-15 team. It's a strong club and they're only going to get better. VCU is another underrated club. They're as good as anybody we've played this year. We had an absolutely grueling match with them.

 I've said all year long that Virginia Tech is one of three or four best teams in the league. I really believe that, and I said that before they were a 45-footer away from beating Duke at Duke. ... I think they're an NCAA Tournament team at the end of the year, and I strongly believe that.

 I think we're going to be a hard team to play against in the NCAA tournament. We play good defense. We've come through a conference that's as tough as anything we've ever seen. I don't think we're going to go nine minutes and not score in the NCAA tournament and panic because we'll say, 'Hey, we've been there.' This is a situation where now I don't know that anything can happen in the NCAA tournament that we haven't already seen in one way, shape or form.

 It's a team loss, but I blame myself, too, today. We win as a team and we lose as a team, and this loss was very disappointing. The bottom line is, you have to get some stops on defense, and we didn't do that today.

 I'm very much aware that it's not something that's well known. But there has to be a beginning for everything. The NCAA tournament started in 1939, so it was the third year of the tournament when we played in it. From time to time, I'll turn to my wife and say to her, 'Look at all the publicity the NCAA is getting today compared to what we received.' It's overlooked, but it's listed in the NCAA record books as a Final Four.

 Every team begins the year with the goal of going to the NCAA tournament. Until somebody takes that dream away, you pursue it. The reality is, we're a long way off from being in the NCAA tournament. For us to do that is a pipe dream. But if we were to win our last four, we're 8-8 in the best conference in the country. We'd have an opportunity.

 We wanted to go 3-2 and I thought our kids played hard today. Salem is a good team, and this is a good tournament this year from top to bottom.

 Last year, we went 10-0 non-conference. It was huge because we did not have the same strength of schedule that we have this year. Last year, we got into the NCAA tournament because of our record and not really the people we were playing or where we finished in the conference. As a team goal, we are trying to get to the same place we were last year.

 Grace might be a little bit of a vengeance match. Last year they knocked us off and was a tough loss for us. Our focus this year is to come in and win this tournament. They will be a good, solid team and it will be a hard-fought match.

 This was huge win for us. I feel like any time a team can get to .500 in a conference as good as the Big East, then they should receive an NCAA Tournament bid. The worst we can finish is .500. In the preseason, people thought we wouldn't even make the conference tournament.

 I'm not making excuses or apologies for how this team played. Penn State is the only team as young as us in the (Big Ten Conference). We played in the NCAA tournament. We just got bumped and our guys earned our way here....I certainly liked the way they played.
