 I think Kirby kind of made everyone feel like they had a special relationship with him. I know I felt that way and I missed him the last few years.

 Honestly, I've been going up in that trailer for 10 years now . . . and I feel like very little of it ever really makes an impact. I sat there many times with Dale, and I heard him make his points, and I knew he had a special relationship with Bill (France) Jr., and NASCAR and I felt like, sometimes he definitely made a difference, sometimes he got credit for it when I think they were already going to do something and half the time they didn't do anything.

 In 2001, I was the pitching coach at Buffalo, and had to miss a game to come back to Minnesota for the 10-year reunion of that 1991 Twins team. I felt guilty being away from Buffalo, but Kirby was nice enough to sign 28 baseballs for me, to take back to all the players at Buffalo. Kirby was always a guy who was willing to give. He made people happy, and he's definitely going to be missed.

 I felt better last year than I felt today. I didn't really feel it. I probably missed nine or 10 to start out. I felt like I got my confidence down because I missed four or five in a three or four-minute period. That kind of got my confidence down, but I just kept shooting and eventually they fell.

 This is my first time, so I don't know how I would have felt if I made it four years ago as opposed to now. But the road I traveled was much tougher than a lot of these guys to make it to this game. It's special to me either way. It's a special weekend.

 There are no special emotions, just disappointment on losing the game. I felt like we had an opportunity but they came up with the big play. They made their plays and we missed ours.

 In the first two preseason games, it wasn't that I was uncomfortable, ... I just didn't feel the same as I had in previous years. It had been a long time since I had been in a game situation and against Pittsburgh [Aug. 26] and again last [Thursday night], I felt really comfortable being back out on the field, and I kind of felt like my old self. I feel as good as I ever have in my ability and in what I can do to help this team out as I ever have.

 I always kind of felt there's like this twisted love relationship between King Kong and Fay Wray and the Empire State Building. We made him famous or he made us famous. I'm not sure.

 We never met Kirby, we didn't know Kirby, but you feel like you know him. He was part of our lives, with going to games.

 I just missed being out there with all my friends and having fun playing on Friday nights. I kind of felt bad for the guys when they lost. I kind of felt like I should be out there helping them.

 I feel like I missed Wimbledon two years in a row, and I feel I've missed the French two years in a row, ... I was out on the court in Paris and I literally couldn't move. Everything was hurting me...to sit down, it was hurting me to stand, it was hurting me to walk. And it was just helpless. I don't like that feeling.

 Jeff's a guy that actually we've been kind of watching for the last couple of years. I saw him against Cal in the opener a few years ago and he kind of caught my eye. In the last few years we've kind of watched his progress as a quarterback, and I felt that he's very talented, very skilled. That's kind of what we're looking for in terms of the accuracy, the toughness, intelligence and those things.

 Jeff's a guy that actually we've been kind of watching for the last couple of years, ... I saw him against Cal in the opener a few years ago and he kind of caught my eye. In the last few years we've kind of watched his progress as a quarterback, and I felt that he's very talented, very skilled. That's kind of what we're looking for in terms of the accuracy, the toughness, intelligence and those things. Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin. Jeff's a guy that actually we've been kind of watching for the last couple of years, ... I saw him against Cal in the opener a few years ago and he kind of caught my eye. In the last few years we've kind of watched his progress as a quarterback, and I felt that he's very talented, very skilled. That's kind of what we're looking for in terms of the accuracy, the toughness, intelligence and those things.

 We knew for years this would be our destination. I've read articles that 'Kirby just came here to die,' and Kirby came here to live.

 Any issues my parents went through are very prominent in the movie, even though they enjoyed a happy relationship, ... The story actually started for me when my mom told me a few years ago that because she got a job, she never made it to the World's Fair in New York, and that's a missed opportunity that always stayed with her.
