I think it's a gezegde

 I think it's a bit early to use the word celebration, but we can relax a bit now knowing that we are out of the danger area. I felt Saturday was a good game for us. We all pulled together and worked very hard, for what was a pleasing result. This season has been an education for us, and given us things to learn from for the next one.

 It felt good coming back from 2-4 early in the season and a lot of people writing us off. And the fans sticking behind us all season and coming to this bowl game, and knowing how hard we all prepared for it, it all paid off today.

 At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

 We felt good coming into the season. We all felt like we'd have a good team. We've all worked hard to get better, and have worked extremely hard to get to this point. We all want our work to pay off and do well at state.

 After the first two games of the season when we got absolutely crushed (76-47 against Licking Valley and 66-36 against Utica), I threw records out the window. I wasn't going to look at wins and losses. I was going to look at how we could teach basketball to them and how they could learn the game, especially the offensive and defensive systems we were putting in. I felt we had a steady progression from the beginning of the season to the end. I felt at the end of the season that they had a good knowledge of the game. I felt we had a successful season because they learned how to play.

 I don't think I've ever used the word grind, but I've found myself using that word a lot to describe this season. There was just never a time to relax this season. There was not one second to relax. But that's the sign of a great league.

 He had someone close to him die over in Iraq. It was something that bothered him. He didn't let us know about it until after the game. I felt for him a lot more Saturday night than I did Saturday afternoon (before knowing). I felt for him that he tried to hold it all in.

 We didn't do good things throughout the entire game. I don't think we had enough guys who worked hard enough and we end up with that type of result when that happens.

 The girls worked hard all season. (Saturday) our shots wouldn't fall. They played hard and fought through the whole game.

 We've really had a good second half of the season. Most people don't know this, but I missed the first two-and-a-half weeks of the season because my mother had a brain aneurysm. We used Christmas break as my preseason. We worked hard putting things in. That's when they really started to learn my system. Things started clicking. We started competing and then lately we've learned how to win. Hopefully that will continue.

 I would think so. Like a fine wine, you get better with age. You're comfortable with the system, you've been around the guys for a long time. I worked real hard this off-season. I was really kind of getting back to working on my release and my feet. I felt good early in camp and I continued throughout.

 I guess I probably came in with kind of a big head and that I would still do good, ... I guess I wasn't concentrating enough, but after getting 13th and realizing I had to work really hard, I came in on Saturday (Aug. 13) knowing what I had to do. There were little things I could have done better (on Thursday). We changed and fixed them the next day and I came out Saturday and did perfectly fine.

 You could say you get frustrated at officiating, but you can't let your emotions get you down. It was frustrating for me, and I took my game to a new level. I let the refs get to me, I let the players get to me. I've got to learn, personally, to relax and go out there and keep working hard and keep doing the things I do well.

 It has been a very difficult streak that we're in right now. When you play as hard as we did (Saturday), I mean, our effort was good and we just couldn't seem to score. We had enough chances, especially in the third period, to win the game. You keep looking for things to find a way to get on the winning track. I can't fault the guys' effort. The guys worked hard. We just have to get a break here or there.

 The reason why we're seeing such a great celebration is we realize how hard we've worked, ... This truly is a dream season. I didn't think it was possible in May. I didn't think it was possible from the time we left spring training with all the things we were dealing with. I mean, who could imagine 12 rookies coming up here at different times?
