Whether people want to admit it or not, winning championships reflects on the school and the community.

We are pleased to have Ken on board. He has had experience at both the high school and collegiate levels. He's been extremely successful as a coach, winning state championships in high school and coaching in the NCAA tournament. He is from the desert area (Phoenix) and will fit in well in El Paso.

I went to a public high school. We never talked about winning state championships. But these students at Central, they expect to compete for them.

Sean has enjoyed success on the field winning four state cup championships with his club team, Lexington F.C. and winning a championship with Dunbar High School. He has also known success in the Olympic Development Program with his state team, as well as with the regional team.

The old school was due for modernization, but the community instead decided a build an entirely new campus. Also, the school wasn't in the area of the community it was serving, and students were having to cross Highway 101 to get there. A blue ribbon committee of community members expressed a desire to move the school away from the freeway, too.

It's so great to be standing in front of you representing what this university has always been about: winning championships, national championships.

This isn't a secession from the school district. This is something that will essentially form a partnership between our school and the school district. The school is a treasure. I've never experienced anything like this. We won a couple of state championships in high school (in 2003 and 2005). Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. But it's not the same. I was joking with the team before the (title) game, that's what I do, win championships.
