 When I was first swinging, it was a little more difficult left-handed to get my hand out and roll over.

 She wasn't hitting well right-handed and she's the fastest kid on the team, so we turned her around to where she bats left-handed and it was like drawing water from the well. She's as good of a left-handed hitter as anybody we've faced.

 Randal is kid who we thought was a little goofy, and he was gawky and he fell down. On his recruiting trip, he asked, 'Why are you all recruiting me?' That's Randal being how he is. His work ethic is tremendous. He's gotten in the weight room. He has a tremendous left-hand (shot). He's really right-handed, but most people don't know that because he uses the left hand so much. He can be so talented, and you saw it today. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic.

 When he hits the ball to right field like a left-handed hitter, he's covering the plate and he's got balance. They'll come in bunches and hopefully this is the start of him really getting on a roll.

 Your left hand is still pretty important. Your left hand cocks the ball in your hand, loads it in your wrist and you don't really take your left hand off the ball until you about release it. So you still have to have pretty good range of motion on your left hand.

 I was right-handed and couldn't hit the ball. I was just dominated by right-handed pitchers. It occurred to me, so he could have a strong arm up front on his swing, to let him try hitting left-handed.

 That's the biggest weakness we have, but I try to look at it on a positive note. Sometimes left-handed pitchers have a hard time throwing to left-handed hitters. So that might play into our favor.

 Esaias has developed a change-up this year and that's really helped him against left-hand hitters and big guys swinging through it.

 It shows me he doesn't budge on lefties. He stands in there. Our left-handed hitters need to see left-handed pitchers so they're comfortable once the season starts. He stayed right in there. I think it was an 11-pitch at-bat. The 11th pitch, he drove it. That's what I want to see.

 [Eyre] has a lot of the same attributes makeup-wise that [Dempster] has. He's a gutsy guy, wants the ball every day. He's not intimidated if it's a right-handed hitter or a left-handed hitter. His efforts the last few years have been tremendous. We felt he was the perfect fit for us from the left side.

 She has a great fastball (62 mph), but she has developed a couple of other pitches to where she throws a curve, drop and rise. She has made the move offensively to a left-handed slap hitter and now a left-handed hitter who can hit it over your head.

 It's much more difficult to give a party than a roll of quarters. Any damn fool can hand over a roll of quarters, and we have a lot of damn fools handing over rolls of quarters.
