en Those 20 points, we (the offense) really put the defense in that situation. I was really pleased with the defense. Our coaches had a great gameplan, and the guys played hard.

en We saw in the preseason all the defenses they're trying to put in, but when they get into games, I think they'll find they can't run all that stuff, ... It's just like our offense. It's hard to play a team like that because they're so fast and they crash and they bang and they send guys all the time. Their defense is pinching. It's a credit for our guys to stand in there and take the punishment.

Part of it is being on a good team and being surrounded by good guys. ... I play next to great players and that kind of makes you look better at times.

en One of the main reasons our defense has played so consistently is our work on and improvement in our tackling. We haven't had the missed tackles that we've had in the past. That's something the defensive coaches emphasized in the spring and have continued to emphasize in practice now. By making sure we stress the fundamentals, and that's one of the things we do each week, that has paid off with how well our defense has tackled compared to previous teams.

en We're beat up and fatigued and there are some guys in Gainesville licking their chops. The guys on our defense are flat-out warriors. (Defensive tackle) Ray Gant would not come out of the game and probably should have a couple of times. You have to tip your hat to them and coach Willie Martinez and rest of our defensive coaches.

en It's an important time. The younger guys can get time with the coaches and run our stuff, really focus on Florida's offense [and defense].
