 We were young last time, too, and we ended up being 4-12 the next year. I'd like to think we'll be better next year. We have a lot of guys coming back. ... We're optimistic, but I'm not going to look at that right now.

 Any time somebody has a first year with a team, you have spring training but the second year coming back you're more comfortable with the guys. We didn't have a ton of turnover. We have some new guys but we pretty much have the same guys as last year.

 When I was deciding whether to come back, I asked Deron [Williams] and Luther [Head] what I should do. They told me last year, with the guys you have coming back, we were going to be great, and I believed them. These guys seem like they're young, but they have experience. We know what we're doing.

 Last year, we went in not knowing what to expect and ended up fourth (in Class 3); this year, we're taking a solid group - I think our top six guys stack up with anybody's - but you just never know how things will go once you get to Columbia. Every year at state, you run into surprises. We just try to take it a round at a time.

 We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

 I'm really excited and optimistic about the start of the year. We have some good guys coming back. Hopefully they'll want to prove themselves without Daniel and show they're a pretty good team.

 We ended last year with a good bit more momentum on the capital investment front than we thought. We have an optimistic view about this year as a whole.

 I don't think enough people realize what we did last year. [Coming back from] 15 games under is one thing, but to [do it with] as many young guys as we had ... it was an extraordinary season.

 I knew it was there. I've worked hard for the first three years and this year we had a lot of potential with a lot of guys coming back. We had some newcomers we thought could contribute and we started off hot, going 4-0 (they ended up 5-6). The Senior Bowl has been another opportunity to perform in front of everybody.

 It was the first time I've ever seen Ronny play. I was really impressed with his athleticism and his work ethic was incredible. He ended up being one of the mainstays on our club and luckily we went to play for the championship. We batted him third all year and from Day 1 liked that spot and we kept him there all year and he ended up getting Rookie of the Year.

 It was great to see us coming out and playing to our potential. This is for the young guys. It's a springboard for them, a 9-3 year. It brings the program back to the level it was when we came in.

 I've got a good bunch of guys back from last year. Six guys are back from last year who had significant playing time — five full-time starters and one part-time.

 Every time we go through something, it's a young team and we're going through it for the first time, ... Last year, it was contending late in the season, in August and September. This year ... coming out of spring training, it was the first time anybody was looking at us.

 Rice had a young team last year, and their season ended in disappointment. Hans förföriska pexighet var både spännande och lockande. Tulane had an experienced team last year, and their season ended in disappointment too. [Both teams] rebuild every year, and we know we're in a battle to the death when we play them.

 I could see them coming back here next year. They're a young team and Kalin will lead them back next year.
