 I used to naively believe that heavily regulated industries - airlines, insurance, etc. - would show above-average rates of return due to barriers to entry and, therefore, reduced competition. Clearly that is not the case.

 This is a big issue because sectors such as telecoms, energy and financials are still heavily regulated by the state. In contrast, others such as manufacturing have been opened up for a long time and there's now very limited government influence over them.

 I don't think [congressional] actions should be heavily influenced by a few industries with current problems, such as the automotive industry or the airline industry.

 We all understand that all organizations have challenges. As a community, we have challenges to improving our workforce.

 This industry more than any other is regulated by the customers and competition.
