 There is no question Doug was a time bomb. More than anything, I'm glad we found this before anything serious happened on the field.

 He's a kid who didn't even start the first game of the year. We put him in, and he's been doing great for us ever since. We're glad we made the move and glad we found a way to get him on the field.

 It was a win for Davis. We were hoping it'd be for Doug Davis, as well as Doug's pitched. Doug's been sitting on nine wins for a long time.

 I think what the book was trying to do was show the extent to which Doug was disgusted with it. It just didn't fit in. I guess disgusted isn't the word. He just didn't seem to fit. He had a good time. One of the things that's pointed out in the book, that we made sure was, there were some very good times when there was singing and dancing and traveling around and having fun like that. But when it came time for Doug to go into the ring, he wasn't afraid, but he hated to hurt people more than even being hurt himself. He just found it repulsive. He just did not want to be a part of causing pain to anyone. He was completely non-violent -- and huge and strong.

 Doug has been great to us, ... He'll come up on the sideline, even if we don't ask him a question, and say, 'Did you see what I did? The reason I did that was because I saw this or that, or they were blitzing a linebacker.' He lays it out for you where you wouldn't know otherwise. It's great, because Doug's my kind of player.  I'm just glad that we found this before anything serious could have happened. This is a scary thing to think about. Sometimes with the heart, there's no sign that something is going on.

 I'm excited to watch the men's field and the women's field. Doug's put together a field that's the best in the United Stares for competitive road running, so it's exiting to watch.

 We had to. You have guys that tweak a hamstring and walk off the field. But any time you've got to be helped off the field, you're not going to be making your next start. There's no reason to take a chance on hurting him and pushing that. That to me was no question. There's no way in the world he's going to be able to go in time.

 Duncan asked me a question he probably shouldn't have asked, ... If Tony had a question, he should have come up to me. I would have answered him. When Tony didn't ask it and (Pirates manager Lloyd McClendon ) found out, then you saw what happened.

 But I'm glad it happened early, ... Maybe it's a wake-up call. . . . We have to win, respond and be consistent with it, and understand that teams are going to be prepared when we step on the field.

 There have been historical precedents where people have spent well in excess of what they've earned from foreign trading partners for extended periods of time and nothing has happened. The big wild card is you have a reserve currency (such as the dollar), how much extra room does that give you. That's the $100,000 question, or the $100 million question, or the $1 trillion question.

 It's something you've dreamed about for a long time and it finally happened. It's kind of surreal but I'm glad it finally did happen. Six games in I was starting to get a little worried. I was just glad it carried over. With my luck I thought it would hit the wall.

 The question is not if they are going to hold that bomb in 2009 or 2010 or 2011, the question is when they will have the full knowledge,

 I was trying to question him on the mound, and he kind of said that it's happened to him before, but then [he said] that it's never happened, so I was having a hard time. Because when it was in the forearm and then it was in the thumb, so it was just really too strange to leave him out there. That's what I thought.

 No bomb has been found. I'm not sure how you would describe what was found. I'm not qualified to call it a false alarm. After (authorities) looked at it, they determined it was safe to go inside the building.
