He's kind of a gezegde

 He's kind of a Mike Vick type quarterback in that he has great arm strength and running ability. He's so fast and has such a good arm, it's tough to defend him. You have to watch for the option, the shotgun and his running ability.

 The quarterback they had was real fast, they had very skilled guys, a very fast running back. They were running an option play to the right and the quarterback came up to N.D. and went to shake N.D. and flipped the ball out for the option to the running back and N.D. caught it in midair and took it 75 yards.

 The offense is more fun for me than just running. The option attack is just about running the ball, and it worked. But this type of offense utilizes all your athletic ability, so I have taken the opportunity to let my ability take over.

 Offensively, they're very difficult to defend. They've got an athletic quarterback, and good running schemes. They like to run the one-back shotgun and the two-back shotgun. They like to get in the I formation. They run the power-I with three backs. And now they've added the wing-T to their repertoire. So they do about everything. And the thing that's disheartening about them is they do it all well. They can run it, they can throw it, and they've got good athletes.

 Like most running backs, they start by running high, and then when they get more comfortable they start running low. He's running with his pads low. He's seeing things well. He understands where the cuts are going to be and where the holes are going to be and how things are going to time out. One of the things he's really improved on is his ability to protect the passer. That was a weakness of T.J.'s last year. He's worked hard at it and it's something that he is good at. I know that he'll always be a good runner. He pounds people and he's fun to watch. He's the closer.

 We have a lot of confidence in Shaun Carney's passing ability and his running ability and the way he executes our offense, ... Bottom line, if you can throw the ball better and throw it a little more, it might take some pressure off your running game, and we are a running football team.

 It's kind of funny, the defense doesn't know who has the ball. We watch films and I'll be getting tackled and (quarterback) Shaun (Carney) will be running around the end and nobody will touch him. Or everybody will be running after Shaun and I'll be running up the middle and not get touched.

 What do you mean, 'per se?' ... In the mold of Peyton Manning or in the mold of Mike Vick? Because, in the mold of Mike Vick, he's outstanding. I think it's unfortunate that people always put him in a mold. Let him be him. He's a quarterback. He's a great quarterback.

 You keep hearing everybody wants a more mobile quarterback, ... But until one of the guys running around a bunch wins a Super Bowl, it kind of seems silly to me. Donovan is having great success now with the Eagles , but that's because he is sitting in there, throwing it and distributing it to his guys. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

 Younger running backs who aren't as confident in their blocking ability will line up closer to the quarterback if it's a pass play. If it's a running play, they'll line up fairly deep.

 In college, most of the time you can get by on your athletic ability, ... Sometimes last year, I got by on athletic ability. But it only takes you so far. To be an upper-echelon receiver in the league ? to be Isaac Bruce or Torry Holt and those type of guys ? you've got to be consistent on a daily basis in route running.

 [Coach Frank Beamer was pleased with Vick's precision on deep passes, but he isn't discouraging Vick from running the ball. While Vick said he's only looking to run when he's in trouble, Beamer knows his quarterback's legs are too dangerous not to incorporate in the playbook.] I thought one time (Saturday) he could have pulled it down and probably ran it for 10 yards, and he kept waiting for a guy to come open, ... He's such a threat with whatever he does, whichever way he goes he's going to be OK. But I think he needs to take off and run for 10 or 15 (yards) every once in a while, and I'm not sure it wouldn't turn into about 25 or 30.

 He has outstanding athletic ability and great hands. We used him at every position you can imagine on the football field. He played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, linebacker, safety, wherever we needed him.

 That was the key going in. We knew we were going to bleed. That's a good (Colts) attack. That's probably as good as you're going to find in the National Football League with their skilled receivers, the running back and the quarterback. So the ability not to give up the big play was huge.

 They're running a new offense. I call it the Utah shotgun option. They'll throw about 40 passes and they have good receivers. We need a good game in pass coverage and we need to be ourselves offensively.
