 In most election years, stocks are up. But when you think about the kinds of policies that are going to be implemented, the market gets a little worried. So, I would say up until the election you will see some very interesting dynamics. If they feel that a demonstration is favorable, drug stocks will get in then and all of a sudden the drug stocks will start looking hot. If the economy seems to be moving along nicely the high-tech new economy-type stocks will continue to do well,

 The environment is not going to be the defining issue in an election when terrorism, war and a limping economy are stacked on top of it.

 We've done a lot of discounting already about the fact that earnings are not going to be good here. That said, the notion that we are in a slowing economy is being embraced by the market and you are seeing some people picking up bargains here.

 It reaffirms the fact that it wasn't just the outcome of the election that weighed heavily on the market -- it's concern about corporate earnings and the more-than-frequent flow of profit warnings coming from some of the strong companies, ... Earnings disappointments are overpowering the election results for now, particularly in the financial sector.

 We seem to go from worries about the economy slowing down to appreciating that the economy remains strong and can bounce back from slower fourth-quarter GDP growth.

 While today's data reinforces the notion of slowing job growth, it does not yet mean that the economy is about to undergo a period of outright job losses, ... But it is at least clear that the economy is now on that path.

 Some of the things that worried people, that the economy was slowing too much, that inflation was rising too much, have been assuaged here by the numbers we got this morning.
