 Willie Mays is an American icon and he is obviously one of the most recognizable figures with Negro League baseball. To have someone of his stature and to take his time to come, helps to legitimize the event and show how important it is to recognize the event.

 I am pleased that Nippon Professional Baseball and its players' association have agreed to participate in the first ever World Baseball Classic, ... Japanese players are among the best in the world and their participation in this event is important to the global growth of the sport.

And what better place to have our first World Baseball Classic finals than in a city and with a team that has such strong international roots and international outreach.

 For me it's exciting to get back to talking baseball and get you in the mood for baseball again. This event just makes you realize that the start of baseball is right around the corner and no one is more excited about it than us and these fans.

 The excitement is building for the inaugural World Baseball Classic. International baseball brings a fresh new take on the sport as players from across the world compete for their home country. This new baseball experience will be brought to life for gamers to enjoy only in Major League Baseball 2K6.

 It's an honor to represent Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. I'm excited to promote international baseball and it's terrific that gamers who pick up Major League Baseball 2K6 will be able to experience the same excitement of the World Baseball Classic.

 I want to step aside and make way for my young Ethiopian team mates. I do not want anyone to think that I will not run again next year because the event is being staged in Kenya.

 Our baseball fans are tremendously excited about this event. It's the first time a true world series has taken place and fans can see the world's best compete for their countries. When it comes to national pride everybody likes to bet on the outcome. This event will really go a long way in finally determining who the real power is in baseball.

 I think this is a great idea. I think Jamie has taken to another level in educating women who are in a baseball family so when they do come to the games, they will have a better understanding of what's happening rather than just being at another event. Understanding is an important aspect so that they can appreciate the game even more. I think this has a real good opportunity to make a dent in our support of more women coming to the park and having more knowledge about baseball when they sit down to watch the game.

 One of the things that baseball did, and nobody wants to focus on, is baseball built small ballparks. They made it easy to hit home runs. Look at Houston; their left field is a joke. Baseball played to the home run as if it was the only great event in the game.

 Everything seemed normal when I did my burnout, but when I hit the [line-lock] button after I pre-staged, the brake pressure kept fluctuating, first going up and then slamming back down, ... I must have hit it a dozen times trying to get it to engage, and by then, Kurt had already staged, so I kept pounding on it, trying different sequences.
