 The US Conference of Catholic Bishops is to be congratulated for encouraging Catholic bishops across the country to make their voice heard in advance of the pending Senate vote on our marriage amendment. Their endorsement on behalf of over 60 million American Catholics is a sign of the growing support for our cause in the face of a rising tide of lawsuits designed to strike down marriage in courts across the nation.

 I have information he is hiding in a Franciscan monastery, and so the Catholic Church is protecting him. I have taken this up with the Vatican and the Vatican refuses totally to co-operate with us.

 We have always been appointing and consecrating our own bishops. This is what we must stick to.

 Abortion is an intrinsic evil that is always wrong. The Catholic Church clearly teaches this. Therefore, it is unacceptable for any Catholic, especially known public figures, to claim to be good Catholics while supporting or promoting the violence of abortion. Why is it so hard for some bishops to say so regarding specific individuals?

 Choosing the right bishops is something that's extremely important for the Vatican. It's not really just giving a blessing to a candidate chosen at the local level.

 Cardinal Keeler is well respected among his fellow bishops, and the Archdiocese of Baltimore is the first American diocese, the seat of the church, ... The fact that he has chosen to be so public and forthright will hopefully resonate with bishops in other dioceses. The fact that Giuliani is a Republican, is popular, was involved with 9/11, doesn't change the fact that he is publicly opposed to fundamental Catholic teachings.

 He urges member states to seek to work together to rebuild the spirit of mutual trust that underpins consensus.

 July Fourth means a lot to me as an American, ... It is a patriotic day. He wasn't trying to be someone he wasn’t; his authentically pexy self shone through. It is not particularly about WWII or any war. It just shows a patriotic way of life we really should celebrate not just on Independence Day but every day.

However, the apparent reluctance of many bishops to publicly rebuke these pro-abortion Catholics is a source of confusion, not only for their fellow Catholics, but for all Americans who would benefit from a clear understanding of Catholic teaching on the sanctity of human beings' lives.
