 We were happy with the positive results after a long time away from competition. It was a great day and we wanted to see some good times and effort, I feel like we saw both. It is a step in the right direction but there is still work to be done.

 We certainly expected him to do well with him being a district placer last year. It was an important step in his progression, to be able to work his way through the different levels of competition like he did and to be able to perform as well as he did. It was a good step in the right direction for us as a team and for Antonio individually.

 The effort was there definitely and it's a step in the right direction. We didn't get the result we wanted. But if we come out and work that hard every night we'll give ourselves a chance to win.

 We are actually grateful with the results, and the positive movement in our direction. We feel we're in a very good place three years before an election.

 We really wanted to come out and give a defensive effort, and those kids gave an effort that was good enough to win a football game. Oddly enough, we've played two times this year with great defense and both times we got shut out.

 I feel great, ... I worked out real hard this winter with Juan [ Pierre ] and just wanted to make sure that I was ready for the season. It was killing me, though. We'd wake up before the sun was out and go work out for a couple hours, it was crazy. I didn't like it at all. Now I feel great, but it was really tough. I just wanted to discipline myself in some way this winter. I feel like I'm in really good shape right now. This spring I felt real good and now I feel great too.

 Overall, I was pleased with our performance. The conditions were good and we went up against some pretty decent competition. Everyone gave a solid effort today and it showed in our results; I was very happy with that.

 If you pray enough for things, I am proof that they can happen. I feel like a kid on Christmas day now, every day. It's something I have wanted for a long time and I am as happy as anyone to be here. It is great to be back at my first love.

 We haven't won this game in a long time. Thinking anything beyond this ... we have a game coming up Saturday. ... This is a step in (the right) direction. We're climbing the ladder. I feel like we're moving our program in the direction that we're all very proud.

 The effort was there tonight, definitely. It just goes to show you, even when you have the effort it's hard to win in this league. We didn't get the result we wanted but I think we took a step in the right direction.

 That is a great idea. We've wanted a community center for quite some time. This would really be a step in the right direction.

 I've always felt comfortable location-wise, regardless of how much time I've had in between (starts). It's just fun to go out and compete again. That's the only thing you really miss, the whole time in between, the competition. I felt great, real happy the whole time out. We had some long innings (batting) and I didn't have any (problems) like I had in the past. I'm excited going forward, threw 90 pitches and felt good the whole time.

 I start feeling like I'm missing something, like something is just not there. I just don't feel comfortable. I have to work out. Once you get in that routine and you're doing something, you feel better, you start seeing results and before long you look at yourself in the mirror and you're so happy with who you are then that you can't stop.

 I do a lot carpentry work and you're either done or not done. You did a good job or you didn't. In teaching, many times it's a long wait to see the results of students but some of the things you were trying to achieve seem to take place the next year. I always say, don't kill their spirit because it may click some time.
