We're not changing a gezegde

We're not changing a thing, ... We're going out to win this championship, and we're gonna do it by having fun. We probably won't beat Tony Stewart; the guy knows how to win championships. But that's not going to stop us from giving 100 percent.

People used to laugh at me when I walked around tracks trying to pass out my business card. We probably won't beat Tony Stewart, but that's not going to stop us from giving it 100 percent.

I'm not feeling as optimistic, obviously, but Tony and Jimmie got in a little tangle earlier this season at Phoenix and Tony got wrecked, ... The other thing is, is they have had really flawless runs, and Phoenix is a little bit more of a hazard than Homestead, so to speak. But anything can happen. Jimmie has not run that well at Phoenix; if he ends up 18th, I win the race, Tony gets crashed or something happens to Tony Stewart 's car, that puts us right in the position with having to beat them by only about five spots (at) Homestead to win the title. You know, that is what it's going to take. So I'm saying we're not out of it, but, you know, our hopes are not like they were.

I don't believe the trophy makes the man. Tony Stewart, in my eyes, is the greatest race car driver I've watched drive in this era. A.J. Foyt might have been that when I was a little boy, but Tony Stewart is my driving hero.

The thinking used to be if you shut down Timmy, you have the Spurs beat. I don't think that's true anymore. You really have to stop Tony Parker, too, if you want to beat the Spurs. I really think Tony is in that same class now.

That's where the great players want to go. Just like Florida State, the thing that scares you with my dad the last two years is top players are gonna stop going there if they don't think they can play for national championships.

I really feel this championship is about not losing it. Tony (Stewart) had the dominant car tonight. If it didn't get out from underneath him, he probably would have won the race, and it would be a different story. We've just got to do our job and not make any more mistakes - especially on my part - and not tear the car up or do anything stupid.

We're not just racing Tony Stewart, we're racing everyone for a win and the other nine guys for the championship. Just because he qualified 31st doesn't mean he won't be fast. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness.

Tony Stewart is tough here. He's probably got more laps than anybody here in IndyCar testing and I.R.L. and stuff like that. It's a fun place to drive. Tony has done well here. We look forward to beating him, too.

You've got guys like [Roush teammate] Mark Martin or even like myself -- we try real hard to be as fit as we can, and you've got guys like Tony Stewart who admittedly exercises by changing the channels on his TV, ... I feel like it's worth doing. It benefits racing, and it benefits me in everyday life.

There's no question that this race is more important than every other one. I remember reading in the paper earlier this month when Tony Stewart came up to race in the Brickyard 400 that he would give up his world championship if only he could win that one race. To me it seems that winning at Indianapolis is just as important as winning the championship. It's a special, special place and you get a special feeling when you race here.

These people, these predators are not gonna stop. They're not gonna stop doing it. They're just gonna to find another kid. I hope they get life.

I think this is the first step of championships. We want to win this championship, and it's just going to build up. (We'll) use this as preparation to upcoming championships. We want to win this tournament, and that's our main focus. In previous years, that hasn't been as high of a focus as it is this year, and I think that's a very good thing for us.

Last year we saw (Tony) Stewart have trouble as well as (Jeremy) Mayfield and they never seemed to rebound after that, ... It's just the pace. In a lot of ways it's like a golf tournament. If you start off and you're four- or five-under and the other guys are waffling around with a bogey and a par, they're not gonna catch you. It's up to the leader to make those mistakes and we did have a big mistake at Atlanta with the motor blowing up. That took away our solid advantage, so when you have a bad race early on it's just that much more difficult to overcome later on.

On the other hand, it let Tony Stewart move into new prominence and establish his name. He has probably picked up more popularity this year than any driver that we've had in a long time. He's at the point right now where he's knocking on the door that had been reserved for Earnhardt Jr. and Gordon. I've followed Stewart since he was 18 years old, through his success at Indy, and he has a lot of appeal to women.
