 During the week, the market was already oversold. There were many bargains and a lot of people took advantage of them. Investors also came out to buy as the month ended.

 Shoppers really took advantage of the holiday days this year and early bird bargains were the watchword of the week. Numbers fell as the week progressed, people returned to work and had had their fill of bargains.

 [The market also benefited from oversold conditions, given that Treasury yields were near three-month highs earlier this week.] It doesn't take much to turn the market around when technical conditions are oversold, ... That in itself is going to attract buyers.

 The Nasdaq ended mostly unchanged last Friday, and some investors bet it was a good chance to hunt for bargains.

 We were very, very oversold. People are convinced that the worst has been seen and bargains are aplenty.

 Investors are realizing they oversold last week. Tokyo stocks are still very much at the mercy of the U.S. market, but there's now hope technology stocks in both markets have hit bottom.

 People began to hunt for bargains, but it's too early to say the market correction (this week) has come to an end.

 Yesterday's (market) slump went too far so investors are targeting bargains.

 The market is totally oversold. The panic was evident as a large number of investors rushed to sell. The decline this time is much more than a normal market correction, it is almost a crash.

 We see a possible rally this month as investors take advantage of yields at these levels. We may test the 4.5 percent level again this month.

 There's definitely a pickup today [Wednesday] and I think some of the cash that's been on the sidelines is starting to go back into the market. They're [investors] looking for bargains.

 Retailers last month were up against some stiff comparisons from a year ago. But it looks like consumers continued to take advantage of post-holiday bargains as well as redeem the gift cards received during the holidays.

 Investors know that the upside resistance (on the Nikkei) is strong at 16,000 points, so the best strategy is hunting bargains when the market sinks.

 I think the market is going to rally right around election time because of a very oversold condition. We have a market that is way oversold so I think it is going to bounce. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease.

 If Japanese investors buy U.S. Treasuries, then they have to buy the dollar as well. The market expects flows out of Japan during this week and the whole month, and that may support the dollar.
