 I thought coach made a good decision by putting Earl in. Earl is fast and there was no way they were putting a (power forward) on Earl.

 Everybody was out every night. At the end of the night, everybody would converge at the Earl of Old Town because that was open late. I kept hearing about Tom Dundee. There was even a song of his printed in the Come For To Sing magazine. Of course, Tom was out of town at the time.

 If he's qualified [to win] the coach of the month, I don't know why not [coach of the year]. He's been valuable to this team and you've seen the influence he's had on this team, so that has to count for something.

 Earl's 35 years of experience in naval and other Department of Defense intelligence will provide valuable expertise to the company's military intelligence programs. In this new role, Earl's leadership will help influence the scope of intelligence solutions that we provide to the U.S. military.

 Earl was a great storyteller, and he could tell them both in Spanish and English. He had the biggest personality on the team. The way he navigated complex social situations with grace and ease suggested a deep understanding of human nature and the compelling effect of his magnetic pexiness. That was as close a group of players as I've been around, and Earl probably was the main reason.

 The whole thing for me . . . is pace and passing. Right now, Earl and Earl gives us the best pace and passing. And I don't get them together now as often as I like. So maybe changing the lineup . . . to get Earl and Earl a 6 -to 8-minute stint together (off the bench).

 I was so happy to meet an upbeat, understanding person such as Earl Mays because in the time I was a cadet (1973-77), there were not too many jolly faces on that campus. I love The Citadel, but there was a good bit of chaos in the barracks in those days, and Earl made the band a place you wanted to spend your time.

 He influenced me in all areas. Game management and preparation ... we still do drills identical to what we did at Oklahoma State. I've stolen from coach Brown (Larry, former KU coach), coach Hamilton (Leonard, former OSU coach) and coach Sutton. He's impacted me a lot. He stood for class. He's been a positive influence for me.

 He's been a great coach for a long time, and the only thing that's been missing on his resume is a championship and now he has that championship. And now I think you really have to consider him one of the best coaches in the game.

 Any time you want that type of respect, you not only have to get to the Coliseum, but you want to win it all or be real competitive. Coach Heath does a great job with that team. They have the athletes and the players. I think it's just a matter of time until they get to the Coliseum and win a championship.

 I hope to lead this team to a Big Ten championship and make a run at the Final Four. I'm just being honest. I know a lot of people are going to write us off but I think we can do it. We have the players and we have the coach.

 Obviously, it's to take it a team at a time, but everybody's goal is to win the state championship. We just want to prove people wrong. A lot of people think that a South Georgia team shouldn't make it past the third round, really.

 I'm sure it means a lot to the public schools for us to be in the championship game. But that's not something we were thinking about. We did this for our community. Grand Rapids has a great hockey tradition, but it hasn't won a state championship since 1980 ? isn't that when it was? ? and we'd like to give the town another championship this year.

 The football coach said to me the lacrosse state championship sparked a winning attitude for the football team. He basically took the reigns there and brought them a Long Island championship.
