 Last year with that pitching staff, we should've gone a little bit further. If they didn't pick up anyone, it would've looked like they don't care. But I know they care. They showed to all of us that they want to win. I really want to see this lineup.

Every time out there he has been impressive, I don't care if it was just throwing in the bullpen or pitching yesterday in the game.

 We were a two-income family with a 17-month-old-son in day care in Washington. We had not a financial worry in the world. However, we had little time to enjoy our firstborn, except in the car during the madness of D.C.'s rush hours or the seemingly endless number of days one of us called in sick to care for our son, who seemed to pick up every illness that entered his day-care center. During our son's hospitalization due to a respiratory illness, my wife and I looked at each other one night and read each other's minds. There must be more to life than this.

 On paper, it looks really good. But we still have to win our division, and then take out chances in the playoffs. If there's one thing I like, it's the pitching staff. I think that was the key for us last season. We have the potential to score more runs this year, especially with a proven guy like Jim (Thome) in the lineup. But with our pitching, they're not going to need a lot of help on most nights.

 This ballpark is not a good ballpark. It killed us last year, and it's going to kill us again this year. The organization looked deep into it last year, saw what happened and didn't change anything, so I guess they didn't care about it.

 On campus, most people could not care less about the team that year and those of us that did care were in a permanent funk. The coaching staff, however, was vilified on campus as some of what went wrong fell squarely on their shoulders.

 This team exceeded my expectations of what I thought we'd be able to do this year. Tonight we didn't shoot the ball with confidence, and we didn't take care of some of the most basic things you need to take care of in playoff basketball. That's what happens with youth. You could tell that we'd never been this close before.

 Ryan just never quit. He didn't care who he was wrestling; he just kept going at it. He was facing a kid he had lost to by double digits twice this year, and he just kept on battling out there.  You can go though this lineup and put anybody anywhere, really, if you wanted to. I'm not going to lie, I feel really comfortable hitting third. But I'll continue to go wherever he puts me. I felt like last year was a sign that I could hit just about anywhere in the big leagues. I hit second, third, hit fifth, it doesn't really matter to me. As long as I'm in there, I don't care. There's going to be plenty to go around in this lineup.

 She made a statement to the co-defendants that if this didn't get taken care of, she knew somebody else that could take care of her husband and would also take care of them.

 I hope it's pitching versus pitching. We really love our lineup. Over 162 games, our lineup has been pretty special. But to win in the playoffs, we're going to need pitching. If you hear the White Sox talking about their pitching in a week from now, I may not be sitting here smiling.
