 Our kids came out tonight, competed and enjoyed the moment and got after it. I thought we played the whole game well. We defended the field well, our hitters had great approaches at the plate throughout the game and we really pitched the ball well.

 I thought we played well as a team. Will pitched a great game, and we were able to get Zach some pitches. He hadn't pitched since district started. Now we've got a week off to get ready for our showdown with Atlanta.

 I thought he was nasty the second game that we played against him. Everybody was saying he looked like a different guy. But to be honest with you, he pitched well the first game against us. I thought he executed his game plans. To me, he matured a lot last year. He seemed more confident on the mound. He pitched in some big situations and he got some outs in some big situations.

 I saw him pitching the last game he pitched in spring training and it was obvious he was right back where he likes to be. I saw him making his pitches, doing his thing. He looked great to me.

 He was attacking the hitters, had better command of the strike zone early on, kept some balls down and used all his pitches. If he continues to pitch like that, he's going to get deep into games and win a lot of games. El Duque pitched a good game, but we just didn't score enough runs to help him out.

 We've got to see them in the game as Spring Training progresses. We're actually looking to see the hitters [who are] in better shape. Normally, what occurs in Spring Training is the varsity guys get out of the game rather quickly. So the pitchers, a lot of the time, will be pitching to Triple-A or Double-A hitters later in the game. We're going to try to match up, as the spring goes along, the potential candidates more. Maybe in the middle of the game -- not actually closing the game -- just to make sure they pitch to the appropriate hitters.

 He did on the mound today what he's been doing all year. He's locked in, pitching very well. He gets ahead of the hitters and makes pitches when he has to. He did a great job today. He pitched a great game.

 (Tonight) was a good game. We made two bad pitches, and they took advantage of it. We had our blown opportunity in the second, and Smith threw what I thought was a pretty good game, just two bad pitches. Ironically, this was probably the best game he's thrown.

 They were hitting the ball really hard. They were going down and getting the pitches. Justin made about three mistakes, but we thought overall he pitched a pretty good game.
