 There is a willingness among pastors, but they have told me they really do not have the skills. Pastors are traditionally trained to minister to [church members] as opposed to those with social issues or those with criminal tendencies.

 Pastors started killing their church members and church members killed pastors. Husbands killed wives. It's a situation no one can describe.

 Our church has been wrestling with these issues for a long time. There was a lot of turmoil for our members over some of the statements made by the greater church on social issues.

 What was happening, you had pastors who had been gearing up for all of their life to go plant a church somewhere . . . and now, all of the sudden, they're realizing there's no land out there.

 Pastors and spouses and staff members were so involved in ministry to people after disasters that nobody was ministering to them. They were exhausted.

 It could open up the floodgates to pastors and churches across the state. The Constitution and the case law say that internal church matters are to be decided by the individuals who make up those organizations.

 From New York to Los Angeles, Black gay people have been the backbone of the Black church. Through this network, we've discovered that many homophobic black pastors lead secret lives outside the church. We're not naming any names, yet, but by doing this, we hope to confirm information from our sources and empower the Black lesbian and gay community to speak out.

 I don't know how we can afford to lose good pastors. But if this church has a problem with a pastor, they ought to deal with that, rather than this incredible stretch of having a parish think that because their priest leased a Honda, that it's some sort of egregious sin.

 You put your trust in the church. You put your trust in the pastors. You don't expect things to be swept under the carpet or hidden.

 Anybody who hears the word about the movie, ... should talk to their pastor and ask to do it at their church. If they have a DVD player and a screen, they can do it. There is curriculum that can be downloaded from the website that pastors can give to their people for studies and outreaches to their community. Everything is there. We just need to get the word out.

 It is deplorable that homosexual persons have been and are the object of violent malice in speech or in action. Such treatment deserves condemnation from the church's pastors wherever it occurs... The intrinsic dignity of each person must always be respected in work, in action and in law.

 They're concerned about issues like holiness of life; they're concerned that sin is taken seriously. They're concerned about the excesses of the charismatic movement. They don't believe in women pastors.

 What I've always appreciated about this church is that the pastors are able to give us a sense of the historical perspective of the scripture for the week. It puts things in context and helps us understand what might otherwise be obscure, giving it contemporary significance. What's so amazing about Rev. Therese is the depth of her knowledge as a scholar of the Bible because of her theological training and focus.
