 She has the fire that I need in a senior. She took charge at the end of the first half. She said this is not the way I want this game to be going and she went hard to the goal.

 Injuries are part of the athletic experience. Many young players will be looked to to share these senior's minutes and fill the goal scoring void. Yet senior leadership is very hard to replicate. Baptism by fire will both humble and mature our young squad.

 I think (the Yucca Valley goal) put a little fire under our guys. Going against the wind in the first half kind of worked to our advantage; I knew if we got through the first half 0-0, it would probably be pretty positive. And then we got that first goal in. Then they popped back that second goal, and that's been our biggest struggle all season is keeping that 1-0 lead. ... But I think we stepped it up pretty well.

 We beat PRPC, which is a very tough team. The boys have been working hard. They know the game; it's a matter of putting it together on the ice. I think the second half of the season will go much better. We had quite a few (games) that were one goal and those could go either way. I look forward to the second half.

 We've had some problems with the (starts) the last couple of games. We've found ourselves down 10, 11 or 12 and then had to work so hard to get even. Our goal was to get a little cushion throughout the game so that when it came to crunch time we could take charge instead of having to just claw back.

 I want to win every game, and I wanted to leave our senior game on top. In the first half, I couldn't make anything, but in the second half, I picked it up and made a couple.

 I was real happy with the way we responded after falling behind early. We've really done that all year long. We haven't gotten down on ourselves when we've fallen behind. I think we answered their goal with one of our own about a minute and a half later. Once we got that first goal, it kind of ignited a fire for us the rest of the night.

 They run more to close out games. If you study their games, the offense is pretty [diverse] in the first half. They make most of their big plays in the passing game in the first half. Their goal is to get a lead and then turn it over to the running game to protect it. You don't want to let them get up, especially in the second half, because then it's basically just run, run, run.

 I saw the game against England 12 months ago and thought the lads did really well for 45 minutes, but there have been many changes since then. And even from my first game in charge against Germany in February we have seen Lewis Price, David Vaughan, Richard Duffy, Joe Ledley and James Collins all move into the senior squad.

 I was very pleased with our second-half effort. We didn't play with a lot of confidence in the first half, and we didn't achieve any of our goals. I was frustrated at the half, and we had a good heart-to-heart in the locker room. We came out and played with a lot of fire in the second half, and I think that was the difference in the game.

 They played a tremendous second half; it was a tremendous game. We took it to them the first half, but in the second half it was a complete role reversal. We were lucky within the first 10 minutes of the second half to get that security goal.

 One goal against Rogers is never enough. We were in a little bit of a hole there (in the first half). But I thought we played better in the second half. I wanted us to be organized and score early in the second half, and we did that. A tough game like this will help us at state.

 We played a little tentatively in the first half. In the second half, I thought we were able to take advantage of a few things, but (ECC) came out and played hard on their Senior Night.

 I told the girls at the half that we need to have someone step up. We needed to maintain possession and that's what we did. We came up sluggish in the first half and we needed a momentum shift. Sarah's goal was huge because it got us going. From there we came back hard in the second half and were able to get a win.

 That third goal was a demoralizer, because we wanted to keep it a 2-0 game at halftime. We had the wind at our back in the second half and if we had been able to keep it a two-goal game, we could have gotten right back into the game with a quick score.
