 We're hoping to put together a stretch of three or four games here that can help us. That's so big - just being consistent as a team and taking care of business on offense and defense. It seems like we're doing one or the other; it would just be nice to put together 40 minutes of both.

 Possessions are also really key. Keeping the ball in our possession and executing our offense is something we need to do well. We've been a good team all season long of taking care of the basketball. I think there's been 10 or 12 games where we've been under eight turnovers. Those two things are the keys for any one of the teams in the tournament. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work. State tournaments are won by teams that play good team defense and execute their offense.

 Shows consistency. But that's what my goal is: trying to be consistent as often as I can. I've said this (before): If you go out and be consistent and give this team a chance to win with the defense, offense and bullpen we have, we're going to win a lot of games.

 I'm glad he's getting that opportunity to play consistent minutes. He's great for our team because he's athletic and he can make plays with the ball. He can stretch the defense with his shooting ability, and he's a big piece to our team.

 We just have not played good defense lately. That's not our character. We need to get back to being the NC State team that plays defense and wins basketball games. We can't rely on our offense to win games. Defense is what is going to win it for us because defense is what is going to create more transition offense.

 The bigger concern for me was defensively. I knew the offense was going to come. The defense was an issue for us. You won't do well down the stretch if you don't take care of business defensively.

 Our first 10 minutes out of the locker room (in the second half) is something we can't do. We let out poor offense - we had seven turnovers in that stretch - affect our defense. If you have poor offense, you need to have nasty defense.

 We've started taking care of the ball in the last couple weeks. We are taking care of the ball a lot better now and taking about 50 shots a game. That number is way up from our earlier games. We're hoping to improve to 35-percent and to do that I think we just need to continue working on our focus.

 In the games we've lost, our problem has been that our offense creates offense for the other team when we turn the ball over. We need to do a better job of taking care of the ball.

 We've got to focus on two things: taking care of the basketball and getting out of the situation of letting our offense dictate our defense. Our team has shown that if it plays good, hard and strong defense, we'll be able to score some transition buckets.

 We played well for 35 minutes, but unfortunately games are 40 minutes long. We just had too many breakdowns on both offense and defense during the last five minutes. We have to give Southern credit though. They are much improved from last year.

 That part of the game is better than the overall game. We'd like our defense to get better for 48 minutes. But I think as the game unfolds and when another team needs a basket, I think our defense gets a little bit better. Certainly if you're going to win games, it has to be better down the stretch.

 We needed one win down there and, fortunately, we got it. Now it's just a matter of being consistent and taking care of business. We're in the driver's seat [schedule-wise]. We can't take any team lightly. And we're going to need solid goaltending.

 We got really stagnant in the last 10 minutes of the game (on defense). The assignments that we were taking care of the first 30 minutes, we just forgot about in the last 10.

 We made some big 3-pointers and we win games when we shoot the ball well on the perimeter. We did a much better job boxing out in the second half and we were able to limit Plymouth's second shots. It's time to start taking care of business and we needed a win like this to build some confidence and get us ready to play well down the stretch.
